Ok, guys, I'm an XBox loyalist. Hense why I'm a member of this site, and the XB-Scene. You can talk specs, grapics, blah blah. But, WHO's gonna be with M$ on this next console? Oh, wait, one of the best video game (RPG) creators of all time. Yeah, SquarEnix, baby! FFXII is rumored to be released on the 360, not to mention a whole line of games, dedicated to just M$. So, if it comes down to game selection then I'm goin with the 360, just for the sheer point of being able to play my fav games all in one place.[/i]
I'd be willing to stake money that the Square Enix titles for the PS3 will supercede the 360 titles. Judging from the company's previous actions, through use of the Gamecube, I doubt we'll see much more than FFXI, and would eat my hat if the unreliably rumoured FFXII 360 release turns out to be anything more than hopeful speculation.
The Live service is far better established than the PS2 online play, and, just like the GBA connectivity on the Cube, Square Enix sees a quality that would work well with a title they have under their belts. The PS2 like the PS before it has the best RPG base of any console ever (the Super Famicom is arguable), and I don't doubt that that will continue well into the next generation, with a slew of Square Enix exclusives behind that.
Along with other favourite franchises from Konami (MGS), Capcom (DMC) to name a couple, and generally a kick-arse lineup. If I had to choose, there's no question. Luckily I don't!

I wholheartedly agree. And my friend said there was speculation on the PS3 about being able to add data to a already finished disk using new sony technology. Nice, but, like I said, the internet capability of the Xbox is just unrivaled! So, both systems both have their sleeves tied down, and the boxing gloves are on. This is gonna be a good war. But, i do agree that M$ is throwing down WAY too early.
They should release with the other systems and let the war go. I honestly think sales on both ends are gonna be massive. and with both systems supporting so much, I hate to say it, but ModGod and his like might end up going out of buisiness! Lol. MG, I've never had your product, but I can't stop hearin about it, man.
Anywho, they all have their perks, seriously. I can't wait for either, and I'll probably pick them both up from my local pawn store, or get one for free from one of my rich friends when it breaks I'd love to be rich. It's the way I got my current box. I didn't pay anything for it, but the new DVD Drive.

It is going to be an interesting war, and it looks like it's going to be a lot tighter than last generations.
I think that the stage is set for some brilliant releases. Sony and MS are really level from the word go, and both have their little marketing tricks (Halo 3 alongside PS3 anyone?). In terms of these companies with their considerably larger cash flow than Nintendo, competition is a healthy thing and should see the increase in quality so much.
In terms of Nintendo backing out of the race, and making games with their own ideals and not competing with the other companies, I think is going to reflect really well on the quality of games. Nintendo clearly does not handle well under pressure, when competition was at it's highest we saw more Pokémon's in one generation than Street Fighter II's ever! I hope they survive because as unrewarding as owning a Nintendo console is nowadays, every now and then they release one of their games that knock the competition out of the park in terms of gameplay and production quality. It's a sad day when the next Mario or Zelda simply doesn't come...

What mistakes? Underpowered? When PS2 launched, it was the most powerful console to date. What more can one ask for? And in all of it's underpowered glory, it won this generations war, easily.
I'm an Xbox man myself, so I just hope that Microsoft does next generation what Sony did in the current generation (launch first, release a ton of games to persuade Sony & Nintendo holdouts to invest now instead of waiting to grab a huge user base). Then possibly Microsoft can win the war with their underpowered Xbox360. (If it releases first, it WILL be less powerful than the competition). But Sony proved that power isn't the deciding factor.
