Hi there......I bought and installed a spiderchip, got it working and everything, but the installation cd that came with it doesnt work....so I wrongly assumed I needed to flash the chip with the cromwell bios.
The only info i could find anywhere about correcting this problem was extremely vague, but included installing gentoox on my machine in order to do a reflash.
I have now installed gentoox, but am completely lost as to how to reflash the chip from here.....all i want to do is play my back ups/copies, im not interested in having this gentoox on my xbox.....
Have I done a wrong turn, or can I sort this out?

You need to flash your mod chip with a hacked bios, and then just reformat your HD using an installer.
Then you can install your hacked dash, reinstall MS dash and some applications so you can backup your games.
Plus, having the hacked bios will allow you to play your backups.

Use that to flash a evox bios onto your chip and it would work just fine.
You might have to twist the raincoat.cnf a bit.
Just add
Flash = 0xbf,"spider chip",0x40000
Flash = 0xbe,"spider chip",0x40000
One of them works, I dont remember which so just add both of them
Let me know if you cant still fix it

Hey guys,
Heres my story.....
I installed the spider mod chip. no problems. Downloaded a BIOS and installed it. I shutdown and restarted and now nothing happens. I turned if on manually and it turns on for a second, then off and repeats that about 3 times then goes anf flashes green n red. When i shut the chip off it boots fine. My xbox is version 1.6 and the chip is version 1.1
Any ideas? I checked my connects and reconnected everythign just to double check and nothing.
Please help!

you either had a bad flash or put the wrong bios on.
You have a few options
1. Buy a new chip
2. Buy a spiderchip programmer
3. try it in a non 1.6 xbox and if it boots reflash through evox (add the hash code for the spiderchip in evox.ini)

Can anyone explain how the spiderchip programmer works? Even if i had it right now i dont think i understand how to get my chip working lol (noob). I have checked my connections and nothing has changed unfortunitly.
