I haven't tried using any emulators on my machine yet, however it already has Sureal64 on it. I do not have any games as of yet, and am wondering if anyone has ran across a tutorial or guide type of document that I could start with. I checked our tutorials, but came up empty. I have found some to load the emulator, but that is already done. Thanks all!
I have looked at some rom sites, in effort to take a crack at getting/playing some older Mario games, and after I dealt with the Gazillion pop ups and such I came up empty. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

ROMs commonly show up on Kazaa. N64 ROMs usually have "v64" or "n64" as their file extension.... searching for this usually turns up multiple ROMs. The Visual Game Boy emulator works pretty well... those file extensions end in gb (Game Boy), gbc (Game Boy Color), and GBA (Game Boy Advance).
Haven't seen any manuals. Anyone had any luck with MAME? I can't get it to recognize any ROMs (yes, I did repeated rescans).

I played around with my Surreal64 and originally when I loaded it I just saw a bunch of grey boxes that said, "No Box Art Available". However, as I scrolled down I ended up running into about fifty or so games...Whoopee! Only a few of them won't work thus far, so I am pretty stoked about that. I found some rom downloads and have a ton now, but am not sure where to upload them. When I load up FlashFXP and check all the directories, I do not see where they are being stored so I don't know where to send them off too. It's really strange. In a few drives I have folders that say, "games" but they are empty. I have approximately 25 Xbox games backed up and it's strange I don't see them. Is there anyone else running Surreal64? _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

Well, I played around a little more and this time launched XboxExplorer. I went to my F drive where I knew my games were stored and when I opened the PxHD Loader Folder I saw all my games. The next time I used FlashFXP, they showed up. Strange. I went into the Surreal folder then the roms folder. All of my games have an extension of .usa
All of the games that I grabbed have the extensions you mentioned. When I send those over of course my Surreal doesn't even recognize them. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

Hi PorscheXboxster,
Make sure you have the correct romsets for the MAME version you are trying to run..
Its just like the pc version.. You must have say MAMEB6 ROMS to use the MAMEX B6 Emulator.. Most older roms dont change between versions so try and get some really old roms working first..
ALSO, Check the .xml,.ini (cant remember) to make sure you have your directories set.. e.g. e:\EMUS\MAMEOX\ROMS

Yeah asmunch I am learning that. I still have to figure out why all the roms I have end with a .usa exention. I have been playing with my new toy XBMC so I haven't looked at it much tonight. Have you seen the .usa extension? My daughter is digging all the Mario games that came with my machine. I just wanted to load PACMAN. It actually ended in a different extension too...began with an 'S'. Will have to look at that one. I have about a hundred v64 and n64 extensioned games, but still haven't gotten them to work. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

let me see if I've got this straight... I always thought a ROM is a ROM is a ROM. If I understand forahobby, there are different versions for different emulators? I know these ROMs have worked on various PC emulators (never tried MAME though). If this is the case, is there anyway of converting the ROM so it will work with MAME????

Thanks asmunch...the other extension that i was talking about was .smc
I FTP'd another .usa file into my roms folder and it showed up in the list with no box art, but when I tried to launch it there was no joy. However, the second .usa file that I FTP'd over didn't even show up. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

hi PorscheXboxster,
do a search on google for something like "mame rom manager"..
It will tell you what version the roms are for.. Then all you have to do is find the right version for the roms you have..
Like i said before.. Older games like say "pacman" TAITO will work on all versions of mame because they have not changed at all.

Hey you still haveing trouble if so try this
Modifying ROMS/.ini file
It looks like what when you hit the "Refresh" button,
Surreal just deletes all the entries from your
RomlistCache.dat and doesn't actually rebuild
RomlistCache.dat, leaving you with an empty file that
never gets rebuilt. So once you click "Refresh" the list
of your roms is permanently emptied. So if you modify
your roms in any way, be sure to go to
E:\TDATA\a64fea57 and delete the cache files out of
there.
Also, if you modify your ini file, it looks like you have to
delete the one in E:\TDATA\a64fea57
Try that once make sure you back those files up first then try hope that help.

Can't you just download them to your PC then FTP them to the folder you want to put them in? _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter
