Has anyone ever used one of these?? Very curious to know if they work. Basically, it's a filter that connects to the back of your digital cable receiver and allows you to view your PPV channels.

I would think that the cable companies have licked these kind of devices by now!!

My dad is always the one to go buy that sort of stuff. An Adelphia cable company guy once sold him a digital box that had all the channels. Did it work ....no, but he has a really nice programmable unit for satellite that updates itself.

But as for that, seeing as how they have moved on from the old analog days, There has to be a telephone cord in the back of my mom's cable box to order ppv, however to receieve Showtime, HBO, etc... she doesn't not .

A signal inherent in the system is sent from the cable company. It is quite possible they use this filter to produce a similar signal to unlock the box, just like the good ol' Capt'n Crunch Whistle in the early days of phreaking (free long distance).

So if they are able to produce this signal or cause your box to go into Premium Subscription mode, whats the possiblity of them discovering it if they are "so in tune with their box".

Sounds awesome though if it works, just post some results if anyone has them..

They have a disclaimer that states you MUST be able to order your PPV's and ondemands from your remote, not have to call in, which is what I have to do.

My set top box does not require me having a phone hookup to order PPV events or movies.

Am thinking may give it a shot for 40 bux just to see if I am a true sucker or not..lol.

Any company that states, NO REFUNDS...always has me wondering.

I have looked into those devices before. I am in no way an expert on it, but I have heard that some people end up getting charged the channels even though it is supposed to be free when using the device. I guess it just orders the programs without your authorization so it seems free, untill you get the bill. But that is just what I have heard, it is in no way a fact that I know, you just might want to look into it a bit more before installing it.

Believe me, I thought about that.

They have a disclaimer that says something to the effect that it is up to the person using the filter to contact the cable company and inform them of any ppv events or movies that they watch because the cable company will have no knowledge of the viewings...

So in essense, they are saying that the cable company would have no knowledge of them and they would not be able to bill you....

It's definitely one of those, almost too good to be true type of products..lol.

I was going to order one today, but pulled a bone head shipping move where I shipped hard drives to the wrong person, so now I have to purchase replacement HDs to send to the proper customers. A frigging 230.00 error on my part...when I say I need a vacation...man, I NEED A VACATION!!

So, no cable filters for me for a couple weeks..lol.
