Sorry to butt in your thread but I figured why waste space somewhere posting a new topic. ModGod I had talked to you about some mods for me and a chip install for a friend. Well, the friend is saving up and I should hear back soon. I on the other hand just found out my grandmother whom I am taking care of can't afford her house payments and bills so I am paying some of them and haven't a penny so I'm afraid I won't be able to get my stuff all tricked out. I've done my own lighting and stuff but like your work much better. I know this is cheap of me to ask but do you think you could give me some hints since the only way I'm going to afford this is if I do the work. I'd just like to know what sizes of LED's (I know 3mm for the controller port) and where I can find them. The Radio Shack's and like stores here don't have what I would call a selection. Also, I can not find a bi-color for the life of me in town. Also, do you sell just the LED ring on your site and if so would it be possible to just throw in an extra 15 bucks to make it worth your while to send some LED's and resistors. I am sorry to hear about your grandmother, but also glad to see that you are helping her out...that is very noble of you and not too many people are willing to make self sacrifices to help others.
What color LEDs do you need? What color LED ring do you need, because I do sell them.
Radio shack LEDs are not bright enough. Their highest rating was something like 600mcd and I usually use anywhere from 5000-8000mcd. And, yes, I use the 3mm LEDs. As far as resistors, I use 100 Ohm 1/4 watt for the ports. I use a bigger/higher rated resistor for the LED ring since there is much more power going into it. That way, you won't pop your LEDs prematurely.
I usually put two LEDs in each port, for a total of 8. You will one resistor for each port totalling 4.
The LED rings I use have 10LEDs and all the wiring already handled. You don't even need to buy a splitter, as my rings have a splitter already wired in. All you do is peel back the adhesive, stick it to the case, plug the power connector that usually goes into the HD into the LED ring molex connector, and then the other connector powers up the hard drive.

Hey, I appreciate your kindness. I want to use a straight blue on all of it. As you may have noticed I'm a spidey fan and I'm going to buy the Web-Slinger Skin and I think the blue will set it all off since it's the only spidey color not in the skin. Well, the bi-color have three legs so you are getting into issues there. You can use the bi-color on the eject board, which I can get. I think I have blue/white and blue/red but I'll have to double check what I have in stock.
I also have the webslinger skin on my site. I'll make you a deal. If you purchase the LED ring and the webslinger skin from my site, I'll give you enough LEDs and resistors to do your controller ports and eject board
That way you can have the exact color LEDs that match up with the ring and stuff. If I dont have blue/red bi color LEDs for the eject board, I'll send two red LEDs so you can do your own, it's quite easy to put four LEDs on an eject board instead of just two.

Done deal for sure! I had only intended the bi-color for the eject board, I'm not the type brave enough to try anything too new! On the bi-colors for the eject I'm happy with anything as long as one of the colors is blue, lol and then blue for all the other led's. Only other question; are the eject pcb's or controllor ports the same on all XBox's? I intend to use scrap from an old 1.0 I obliterated. I'm going to call my wife and find out if we can afford it this paycheck right now, she's the accountant. You'll have to excuse me if I'm like a little kid at Christmas, I've just become obsessed with modding. I hope I'm not the only one... _________________ XBOX v1.6:

Yes, the are the same. The only difference with the ports is, the controller ports that come from a 1.6 Xbox have a shorter wiring harness than the ports that come from all the rest. So, if you have a 1.0-1.5 motherboard, the 1.6 ports won't reach the inputs on the mobo...

No you aren't the only person fascinated with modding man. Its alot of fun, especially the soldering, that is my favorite part of it all.

Okay, I ordered the skin and LED Ring the payment seemed to go through although when I clicked return to vendor it went to an error page. If the order didn't get through let me know and I'll try it again. It's really cool of you to cut me a deal like that, I know who to go to when the XBox2 Modding scene gets rolling! The only other thing I'll ask is if there is a site or picture showing where to glue in and solder the led's on the ports so that they fit well and look nice and all. I suppose it's probably self explanetory one I open the casing though. Well, thank you again. I'll be verifying all the orders I received today later on tonight around midnight. So, if all went through correctly you'll actually get an email from my shopping cart stating payment was confirmed and your order is "awaiting shipping". Then, when shipped you'll get the "order shipped" email. Then, you will get an email from the shipping agent with the tracking number/delivery confirmation number.
I posted a pretty big tutorial on how to add LEDs to controller ports. I'll dig it up and get you the link.

Well, people who whine about the donation do so because they think they are buying something...when in essence, they are donating to help with the outrageous hosting fees that this site commands. Unlike Xbox Scene, we dont generate thousands upon thousands of dollars in advertising. Certain XBS admins want to knock our "non-existent forums", but in reality our forums are pretty active.
Certainly XBS is going to have more forum activity...after all, all they are are pretty much.....forums. We have the VIP ticketing, games, contests, chat room, voice-chat, FTP server, and so much more than forums and/or tuts.
The biggest complaint I see is we do not have a bit torrent section anymore, but it was either get rid of the bit torrent section or get the site shut down like all the other bit torrent sites. We just think we're more than a place where someone can stop by and get torrent files, so we didn't want to portray that identitiy. We are a community where modders can spend a few hours of their day shooting the breeze, helping others, get the latest files, and learn a thing or two while in the process. All while making some cool friends at the same time.
When you look at the posts at XBS...they are so...hollow. Questions and answers..questions and answers... Nobody gives a rats ass about anyone. That may be fine for some people, but I think if people truly give a crap about the people in the forum, then people will work a little harder to help each other out. So, we try to be a closer knit community here...and so far, it's working like a charm. It's like one big extended family...all over the world.

Before I found this site I used XBS and I don't personally think they are all that great. They have info and forum up the ass but that is half the problem. It is so spread out and disorganized. Here, what I'm looking for typically falls in my lap it's so organized. I had a hell of a time getting help there as typically I got a "look through the forums" response. Often there was so much info on one subject in the forums it would become difficult to identify which was more current or even correct when some differed. I destroyed a 1.0 trying to softmod and I admit it was my fault doing something I wasn't all that familiar with, however, at the time I felt I understood what I was doing when in fact it was an incorrect tutorial and out of date. After coming here I find SID which a toddler could use and the info was given straightfoward and not from 100 people. XBS at this point has only one thing I have found useful which is XBins and I've only used it once to get that X2 Bios since everything else can be found here. I was going to pay the $40 lifetime fee just to help out the site but as I said I just can't right now. When I can afford it I intend to make a donation just to donate and not even to get a membership. I agree that people need to step back and realize the donation is to help the site. I bet the same people who whine would be all the whinier if this site dissappeared because it went bankrupt so to speak, of course now days people expect everyone to bow down to help them out anyways. It seems to me that HQ among others are paving the road to advancement by supporting thinkers, I mean Bill Gates (not that we want to be like him) before he was a $$$ whore made great advancements to the technology world by starting where?... Anyone?.... By modding an Atari. He got his start doing the same thing we are all doing. Who's to say ModGod or myself or anyone else here isn't going to do the same thing and make the next big jump in tech? I think that's why M$ hates the mod scene so much. _________________ XBOX v1.6:
