Hi all,
I've spent countless hours trawling these forums, I love this place. I have never yet posted so I thought this time I want to share an experience that I've just encountered with 2 separate Samsung Drives reading backed up games.
Everyone raves about the Samsung Drive version SDG-605B and it's capabilities in reading most if not all DVD-R media, compared to the Samsung Drive version SDG-605F which is a bit more pedantic.... How ever at the moment my 605F is blowing the pants off 605B. I confess that I use cheap arse media (Princo normally), but I've never had an issue so I'm happy. Well the other day I couldn't get to my normal supplier so I went to a local retail store and bought a different brand "Datalot" I don't know who the manufacturer is but they were cheap, I backed up a couple of my new games and this cheap as brand worked SWEET in my 605F.... Now the interesting thing is my brother came over and he has a Samsung 605B in his xbox which does not have trouble reading Princo's either but unbelievably it does not want to read most of the games which I have put on the cheap as Datalot media (although it did manage to read 2 of my backups). I do not believe it's my disk backup creation sequence as not one has failed in my drive.

My backing up procedures consists of:
DVD2XBOX
QWIX (Create ISO from Xbox Folder to PC)
DVD DECRYPTER (ISO Writing)

This has been a 99% full proof sequence for me, I'm just dumb founded why this much sort after version of a Samsung Drive has such an issue with this media where as the 605F version has no issues.

Comments welcome.

Drives are twitchy. No doubt about it. I feared you were going to say that you had trawled unsuccessfully for hours here, and I was thinking WTF? HAHAHA
Glad you like it. It really is a great place and with just a touch of searching, odds are you can find the answer to most anything Xbox.
Cool part is that if you read and still don't get it... it's ok to ask and you will get an answer other than "Search". I hate that sh*t.
Glad to have you stop lurking and becoming part of the vocal side of Xbox-hq. Look forward to more posts from you soon.
In the mean time, thanks for the info on the drives.
Someone will find it handy!
