Every time i try to softmod by splinter cell it doesnt work it just keeps going blank. and i have two UDATA files one for pal and one for softmod what should i do please email me at leesimmo44@aol.com because i never search the net.

try updating your xbox live with the newest game you have, like halo 2 or something

i had this problem myself on two different boxes.
first of all make sure you have downloaded the correct version of the SID, the first version i got was apparently corrupted, it was only approx 1.5 Mb instead of the usual 8 Mb but not having any previous experiance with the program i did not realise it would not work till i tried it.
Second you must make sure that you do not have the extra levels that were released after the original game. The download, whether from live or the Bonus disc apparently changes the uxe to patch the security hole.
Goto the memory manager for the hard drive from the dashboard and remove any reference to splinter cell from this list before you start, then copy over the "linux" profile and the "linux installer", reboot and load the game and you should be away.

Well here's what worked for me:
I downloaded the exploit, it came in three RAR files, the softmod, one NTFS version and one PAL version.
1. First I unzipped the softmod RAR and NTFS RAR into the same folder and deleted the unneeded PAL version. (delete the NTFS and use the PAL if you are using a PAL xbox obviously)
2. I had two directories, the profile and the linuxinstaller. I used a premodded xbox to FTP these two directories into the E:
3. I ran the microsoft dashboard and copied TWO splinter Cell saves onto a MadCatz 8mb memory card. (Profile and the linux installer)
4. Copied both game saves onto the hard drive of an unmodded Xbox
5. Started up Splinter Cell and chose to start from the "Linux" save that led me right to the softmod menu
