I have had 3 boxes modded with a smartXX chip, 1.0-1.6, and all have the same issue with the 4th controlelr port not working. Is it just my bad luck or do others have this issue? I have never tested my 4th controller
before. here go's.....works fine
on all three of my xbox's
one chiped, one tsop'd and one
softmoded.
isn't the forth port something
to do with the LCD screens or
do they plug in another way on
them smartxx chips?

I have asked this question on the SmartXX forums. Nobody can verify if it's a SmartXX OS issue or what. I am still waiting for some replies. I have sent out a mass email to all of my customers asking for help to verifiy if this is widespread issue.
I would try updating to the newest SmartXX OS and see if you get any joy from that.
Also, for shits and giggles. Swap your ports around. Move the 3-4 ports to the 1-2 ports and so on. See if you still have a #4 port issue or if it moves to #2.
I have a few machines with SmartXX V2's and the newest OS, but I do have one machine with the older OS too. So, when I get a chance I'll test all of mine out. I checked my two Xenium Ice machines and #4 works fine, so I am guessing it may be a SmartXX OS issue.

No, that has nothing to do with the LCD. The LCD connects via 17 wires from the LCD to the chip itself. Port is not used.

2 were mine & 1 was a friends.
I have swapped 1,2 & 3,4 & even used brand new ports out of a new box & still no luck. Pretty weird. Guess it isnt too big of a deal, except when 4 of us try to play Halo or 007 _________________ LED Rings $6 (doesnt include LEDs) LED ring pic

That's weird with the 4th controller ports Jiggy??? I had to replace the usb daughterboard on my 1.0 and that fixed my problem!! my controller ports 3&4 weren't working but my problem was totally different. _________________ Xbox V1.3
