Post subject: Cobra Drive Question..

Hi all, Im thinking of buying a cobra drive since my phillips one broke down last night. I have heard that this drive can read ALL CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, and DVD-DL, is this correct? Also, has anyone bought one of these? If so, can you leave any feedback on this drive's performance? Question

Dang I replied to this yesterday I must have forgot to hit post.

I've sold about 30 of these and expected more feedback than this but no feedback also equals no complaints. I've always used good burners like Plextor and Pioneer and good media so I expect all my media to work and it does. Also I can tune these to be more CD compat ot more DVD compat but I left most of them in the middle.

It's a converted LG PC drive, with a resistor fix for CDr.

So, if i buy one which is set in between compatibility, it should be able to read all media that i throw at it, right? Including Originial Xbox Games and cheap cd/dvd no name media? Also, lets say i decide to have more compatibility on the cdr side, will you provide me with instructions on how to tune the drive?

Basicly if you swap out a resitor that's soldered between to points you can cahngge the compatability. It's 1000 ohms now. (1k). So for DVD-R change to 1200 ohms (1.2k) and for CD-r try 800 ohms. Also you could rig an external switch to make it read CDr 800 ohms) or no connection will read dvd-r's perfectly. I think this might be the safest waqy for no-name media but who knows I've found it not too picky right in the middle.

I can set this up custom including a little pot you could twist to turn in anything but that's leaving the top off the xbox.

Also I can post some pics as I'm setting more of these up this weekend I'll show you what all is involved.
