Hi to you all, my sons x box has been soft modded but I'm not sure what exploit was used as it was done before I learn't how to do it!!! Today when he tried to load the xbox up it just shows the error screen with error code 13, can it be fixed or will it have to have a chipped installed to reinstall the dash?

Well, it sounds like the dashboard files are all goofed up. I am unsure if it can be fixed without a chip. Not sure how you can run an exploit if you can't boot up to the dash.
So, I am going to move this post to our softmod forum and allow one of our softmodding experts to tackle this puppy.

Thanks ModGod, hopefully someone will be able to help, if not we'll just have to have a chip fitted. I tried loading the M$ dash on my xbox and hotswapping to try and save the exploit UXE exploit onto the hard drive seen as though the original 007 AUF game loads OK but M$ dash don't wanna play with the messed up HDD!!!!!

The game loads ok? Did you by any chance leave the exploit on the hard drive? How exactly were the files placed on the hard drive, mainly what I wonder is do you have an Action Replay, or another way to get game saves onto a memory card. 007 has a way to launch game saves from a mem card, so worst case scenario I could make you a 007 evox save real quick, just need your network settings so that I can make evox go ahead and be able to be ftp'ed into. So you can reload the game save exploit onto the hard drive. Then re-attempt the softmod. If you can boot a game, then we shouldn't be without hope. Also one thing to try is turning the xbox on and leaving the dvd tray sticking out. If you modded using ltools this will automatically boot the ltools install menu so that you can reinstall the exploit. _________________

As far as I know the exploit is still on the HDD. I have quizzed my son and he swears he has not been into file manager or anything similar, the only thing he has done (the day before the error showed) is copy Tony Hawks Underground 2 onto the HDD. Unfortunately I don't know which exploit was used as I did not do it, all I know is that the same guy done 2 other machines at the same time (which I now have a HDD backup of 1 and the other has the same fault!!!!) is that he has used the Bert & Ernie fonts but does not have the s.xft file. Don't know if this helps! I have tried running the UXE installer that I am now using from an Action Replay but that didn't work and I can't find a way of getting the files onto the HDD. If anyone can help I would kiss them!!! OK so that's maybe going too far but if not then maybe I will have to get someone to install a chip!!!
