My friend and I installed a Spiderchip into his V1.0 xbox. After an unsuccessful flash, we had to order an Xecuter programmer to reflash the chip. We were able to put on the X2 4983.06 bios. Following the same protocol for installing Evox using Slayer's autoinstall that I used on my v1.6 with an X3, we tried to boot up Slayer's and install a larger HD. With the original stock HD and the modchip turned on, the box boots correctly to the Slayer's DVD+RW (actually it boots to M$ dash and say invalid disc, but after an eject and reload it will load Slayers fine). But when we connect any other HD we got different errors and couldn't boot Slayers. One error was 16 and the other was 6 I believe. We got error 6 when trying to boot from my old HD from my 1.6 xbox upgrade. And we got error 16 when trying to boot from an old HD taken from a TiVo.

The X2 also didn't behave like my X3. After flashing my X3 with the X3 bios, the XBox booted to the X3 live config. However, with my friends, after flashing with the X2 bios and rebooting, the box booted into the M$ dash each time. However, with the mod chip it Xecuter DID appear at the bottom and with the chip off M$ appeared at the bottom.

Any ideas why my friend's v1.0 will not boot a dvd+rw in the drive without the stock HD in place?

make sure the harddrives jumper is on cable select ,

then try booting the installer again , try a few times ,

with the chip on ,

also get the deluxe 1.01 installer and try booting it

I double and triple checked the jumpers and they are set correctly on both drives. And we've tried booting the disc multiple times several different ways. I have downloaded and made a CR-RW and DVD+RW of the Deluxe 1.01 installed but have yet to get a chance to try it out. I'll post my results when I get them.

Thanks.

You are getting this error because you had YOUR hard drive locked on YOUR XBOX. When you put it in a different XBOX, any XBOX you're get error 6 which means it cannot unlock it. Nothing to worry about here, that's natural. It means it detected your Hard Drive.

This means that it cannot find the files to set the clock. This is also natural since that TiVo hard drive doesn't have the files for it. Did your friend leave his XBOX out of the power jack long than 5 hours? Chances are that your friend has his XBOX unpluged longer than 5 hours and the TiVo Hard Drive doesn't have the files. Thus, giving you error 16. Flash the chip with the M8 Bios since it's a Version 1.0. The M8 bios will allow you to boot past the clock settings. Or you can Unlock your hard drive and placed it on his. Than boot up to the M$ Dashboard and set the time. Than load that TiVo Hard Drive again and you should get the Slayer's screen. Put your hard drive back into your XBOX and make sure you lock it back up if you want to get on XBOX Live.
