Is it possible for me to put the fully working AID Disc into a modded box ... switch the modded box's hd with a hd from a different box to restore a m$ dash/mod it without problems? Or to just format / mod a brand spanking new 160 gb hd? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated thanks guys!

hi Dark_Rebel,
Yup that will work just fine.. Thats what the auto installer was designed for! UPgrading hdd's and installing software.. Just make sure you are running version 1.01 or have upgraded from1.0 to v1.01 using the update packs. We had a few bugs in v1.0 but they are all sorted now!!!
here the steps i would do it very basically:
1. Have a Brand New HDD say 120gb or so
2. Burn the XBOX HQ AI to a DVD-R/CDRW and make sure you can boot it now with your modchip flashed and already working with the retail hdd..
3. If it boots to the menu then you will have no probs installing a new hdd.. im postivie it will boot to the menu if you have your bios flashed correctly and mod installed like im sure you do!
4. Open your xbox. (use new SWF Tutorials here:
http://xbox-hq.com/html/modules.php?name=SWF_Tutorials)
5. Remove the RETAIL XBOX HDD and check the jumper settings on the retail XBOX HDD (normally CS (cable select)
6. Now match the jumper settings from the retail xbox hdd on the new larger hdd (say 120gb)
7. Installl the new hdd and connect everything as it was
8. Close your xbox
9. Boot your xbox with modchip activated and the XBHQAI in your xbox dvdrom drive.
10. The menu will come up..
11. Choose format and partitoin (since its a new hdd)
12. Then choose install dashboards
13. etc etc..
14. download the .PDF tutorial for the XBOXHQ AI from the downloads section.

is your xbox modded? Does it have a modchip?
If it has a modchip and can boot dvd-r's why would you need to do this?
You could just install the new hdd in your modded xbox and use the AI to format and install everything ready to go..
If your talking about installing a new hdd into a xbox with a modchip and then using the autoinstaller to format and install a SOFT MOD so the hdd would work in a unmodded xbox im not sure if that would work??
Maybe speak with DJB or sjohn about that.. I have no SOFT MOD experience if thats what you are talking about!
yes it would be easier if you explained exactly what you are trying to do.

Ok, sorry about the confusion I'll clarify my situacion.
I have an xbox (1.6) that I somehow managed to mess up during a soft mod attempt and I ended up getting an error code 13 and i can't get it to laod any games either. I did not write down the hd key or eeprom (yes stupid i know but i did this over 3 months ago and I decided to go back and try again). Anywho since I dont know how to get to the eeprom and hdkey I was wondering if AID could help me. So i downloaded the new version ran the program and compressed it for it to run off a cd-rw. My friend has a 1.0 box with an X3 in it. I also wanted to just put a bigger hd into this messed up box of mine. I have a 160 gb maxtor waiting here. I was wondering if it would be possible to put this 160 gb maxtor hd into my friends modded box with an X3, run aid, prepare/format the drive, take the drive out of my friends box, put it in my xbox, and play. Does anyone know if AID would be able to do this somehow? ... or any other program for that matter? Thanks for the quick responces alrighty thanks!

easiest thing would be to borrow your friends chip well kinda hard if its soldered. anyways i think it may be possible to recover with the aid disc depending on the drive in the xbox and how fast your dvd-drive reads it or soemthing?? i'm not to sure on the details and someone else will have to continue. but if your softmod is still on there theres a chance your box will boot off the disk, I THINK. i'd download it anyways as its a great disk to have for when you do get everythign squared away. hopefully someone else with sme experience in that area will be able to help ya out more

like I said I dont think so!
I would compare hardmods > softmods to Mac > PC _________________ LED Rings $6 (doesnt include LEDs) LED ring pic

Yea I'm thinking the same.
It "might" be able to be done, but you'd have to use a lot more than my auto-installer.

It's not possible to softmod a hard drive in another box then transfer it to another. The reason behind this is the hard drive has to be locked in order for the exploit to work (aka the MS Dash to load). Thus it would error as soon as you try to boot from the hard drive.
The suggestion about putting a chip into the 1.6 is probably the best, this would over ride the need to put in a locked hard drive, and would allow you to just pop in the new drive, softmod it using all the game save things, then lock the hard drive, and take the chip out. _________________

Okay, so i put a spider chip into the 1.6. I checked it out and the spider chip is correctly installed and everything boots, but I can't get this AID to boot off the cd. I burned it to a memorex music cd-rw 700mb ... and it wont run ... any ideas how i messed up?

You obviously haven't read ANY documentation included. To burn it on the CD you need to resize the Dummy file that I put on the ISO. Use DummyCD v1.02 to resize the ISO from a DVD size to a CD.

Also what about flashing the bios? This might be the main problem. _________________
