I have the clevermod installed and flashed with Cromwelll. The system is working just fine. I am very happy. The only problem I have is that when I shut the xbox off I cannot restart the system right away. It will frag when I try to start the modchip, either bank. I can restart with the MS boot right away just fine though. If I leave the xbox turned off for awhile then it will start the modchip just fine. It does not seem to matter if I leave the AC cord plugged in or not for the 30 minutes that I let it sit. Any thoughts? This is a pain in the a** but I can live with it if need be.

Could there be a bad bios installed? Seems awful strange or perhaps an issue with the Xbox fan? _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

Shark2th - thanks for the quick reply.
I have Cromwell in one bank of the clevermod and FlashBIOS in the other. The TSOP is the original V1.1 xbox MS BIOS.
I have Linux installed on the harddrive and this is what I boot from. I have been doing much of my work recently with the case open and the drives moved to the side. The CPU fan and the case fan are working just fine.
If I power down then I have no problem immediately powering up into the MS BIOS. I get the frag if I try to poweron into the FlashBIOS or Cromwell. I have to leave the system turned off for about 30 minutes to power on into these BIOSes. Has to be either a heat issue or a circuitry issue associated with something discharging over time. BTW I have the problem even when the case is open.

The clevermod is mounted through a pin header that I soldered into the LPC port on the motherboard.

This could be a known heat issue because it's a fact you get very poor airflow with drives out and top off. I would recommend at least putting the drives and trays in.
Another thing to check is how fast the bios is loading off the chip when it is working. If the box is cool and the chip is enabling and disabling okay try enabling the mod with the large tray button. If there is any delay loading the bios of the chip the tray won't actually eject. If it does eject then switch bank and repeat the tray eject tests. If the tray fails to eject that's a sign of a tired flashrom or maybe a flashrom that was once plugged in wrong.
I might be able to rma the flashrom if it's not passing the test when cold. I first want to take heat issues out of the equation. Also this sounds oddly like an intermitant LPC connection aswell.

I put the system back together and now it powers up just fine. It must have been that cooling issue you were referencing with the system all taken apart. Thanks for the reponse!
