Hey guys. So I put a bigger hard drive into my xbox, and I was thinking, hey why waste a perfectly good 8 gb hd...
I've tried fdisking it with both windows 98 and XP and nothing has worked. I was wondering if anyone else had put their origional xbox hard drive to work in their computer and how you got it to work?
I run windows xp home edition, and the device manager finds the hard drive and when you go into the setup menu while booting it reads it as the slave to my main harddirve. But nothing else finds or reads the hard drive. It doesnt show up in my computer, or in system information.
Any Ideas???? thanks guys. _________________ XBOX v1.0:

Okay, so it doesnt work because the xbox locked it.
So I found a the tutorial on how to do it with the password and then do the rest on the computer. But when I plug the origional hard drive back into the xbox, it get an error message number 7.
When I put in the new hard drive and mod chip i did it all at once, so the old hard drive was never in with the mod chip, would this be why I'm getting the error message? Either way, what should I do?

Okay, so know that I know what an error 7 is, I think I forgot to reset the jumper to cable select. Hopefully that'll fix it. _________________ XBOX v1.0:

Yeah it all works. And i know 8 gb's isnt much, but otherwise its just a waste. and it wont be hard to reinstall it if my bigger hard drive dies.
But the easiest way to unlock it is using the newest slayers auto installer, its one of the options. SO if any one else wantsa to reuse theirs, get slayers and it was opiton 8 I think. _________________ XBOX v1.0:

5400rpm
it dont matter if you upgrade to a 7200rpm though..
Im running a 80GB HD and DJB's got his 120GB HD..
Im upgrading mine soon to a 160GB so i get a G: drive and will be also flashing my bios (modchip) so i can use the extra 40GB that the new bios will let us have.. _________________ HQ Network:

Heya i know this is an old topic but my question is still about computers and hard drives =)
Does anyone know of a way to have more than 2 hdd's in a single computer?
Ive NEVER seen an IDE cable wid more than 2 thingies for pluging stuff into...does such a cable exist, or do i have to do some weird overly confusing thing with like my motherboard or something ?
All help appreciated, including random guesses _________________ WE ALL STARTED DIEING AT BIRTH
