Hmm... I'm not aware of .mkv. I suppose you could pop in on your HDD and find out, eh?

Wow... Informative post, mccloy. Wink

Only things I noticed though...

-I couldn't get a .mov to play. It was (is, I suppose) a shockwave movie I created that I published in .mov format, and it works in Quicktime on my PC.

- While .gifs will load, they won't animate if they're supposed to. None of the 646 cartoon booby icons I tried bounced. Not so much as a jiggle...

- .wavs won't play if they're one of the files ripped from a disc. There's gotta be a way to do it, I just don't know how.

As much as I like XBMC, unfortunately I don't have time to monkey around with it. I just upagraded my Windows XP Pro Media Center Edition 2004 on my PC to 2005 edition. I can now purchase MS's Windows Media Center Extender Kit for the Xbox for about $80.00

I have a wireless MS MN-700 802.11G router that I got from officemax on closeout for less than $40! About seven months ago my local Target had an insane electronics sale. I purchased the last two MS MN-740 wirless adapters (the ones that say Xbox on them) for only $34.99 each. So now I can use the extender kit to turn my xbox's into DVDR's. I can have up to 5 instances of the xternder kits running at one time. Meaning, one person can be on the PC doing their thing, and four xbox's running extender kits can be doing their own thing. Even have DVR through Comcast, it will be nice to be ablet to record one thing with that while watching another via the xtender kit, and I also have a TiVO in my bedroom. If the extender kit works well, I can nix that 13.00 per month service as my DVR capabilities on my Media Center PC are free.

It's assinine that TiVO charges 13.00 per month for a frigging guide service when MS offers it for free on the media center PC's. Not too mention the guide goes out two full weeks on this puppy, so it's very nice. I'll see what kind of info I can find on your issue. Maybe I can get some info for you.
