As my screenname implies, I'm clueless when it comes to XboX. But my stepsons back home in Oz want me to pick up cheaper games while I'm up here. Problem is, they are DVD region 4 and use PAL whereas the US is Region 1 and NTSC.
Is there any way to play US games on our Aussie box via a software patch/hack?? Or is a chip a requirement??

Good to see another aussie signing in.
ok.. To play NTSC games on your PAL xbox you will either need to install a MODCHIP or do a SOFTMOD.. I seriously suggest installing a modchip because we all can support your 100% here..
If you decide to install software to boot NTSC game in your xbox you will have to speak with our SOFTMOD admin name 'sjohn'.. Unfortunately i have no experience with SOFTOMODDING so i cant help you there.
Anyway, to softmod you will need to purchase a XBOX MEMORY CARD/GAMESHARK and it will only work out a little cheaper..
I would go for the MODCHIP which cannot be deleted like a SOFTMOD.
