Ok well this needs sorting b4 I go any further. I'm inclined to believe it is a 1.1 and what leads me to this is...
Ok 4 starters. Before i removed the serial labels on bottom of xbox, I'd alrerady followed a serial number tutorial to determine where was from etc.
Its got a Conexant video chip in it.
There's other things like no fan being on heatsink etc etc etc.
So thats left me wondering why, wherever it was i got the kernal number from why was it the 5838 number? _________________

Yeah, have it here. Its a Seagate, model ST310014ACE.
So looks like have a 1.1 which is kinda a relief, but over to you boys on why I've got my kernal wrote down as 1.00.5838.01
Its not as though i could have wrote it down wrong, as at the time of making the doc i had no idea what a kernal was _________________

I dont see how thats possible to have a 1.6 kernel running in that xbox unless it was just the bios on the chip that did that, on my xbox it has 4981 kernel which is not listed anywhere that I know of lol and its a ver 1.0 xbox and im assuming its a 1.1 kernel, it seems to fit that catagory and its a chipped xbox. _________________

I know this is over a decade too late.
You have a modchip installed and possibly flashed with the Evox M8 BIOS. This BIOS is based on the stock MS kernel 5838. It shares that same kernel version number. Possibly Evox M7 does too.
The bad thing about Evolution-X BIOSes. They had many versions with the same kernel version number. Making it hard to know exactly which BIOS you have without using other means to ID it. They needed to renumber them to easily know exactly which BIOS you were using instead of having several versions with the same kernel version number and the same as the stock v1.6 BIOS's kernel version.
