Posted: Tue May 26, 2020 5:21 pm Post subject: 2TB drive w/ X3 Chip/BIOS, does not see F and G correct size
I put a 2TB drive in my XBOX with an Xecuter 3 chip. I used HeXEn Tools to properly format it in to two 930GB partitions. I have loaded on the X3 chip, the X3 BIOS 3294, iND-BIOS, evox m8plus bios and the X2 5035 BIOS.
The Xecuter X3 3029 and 3294 BIOSes report the F and G drives to be 120GB and 1.69TB, although they are physically formatted to be 930GB each. All the other BIOSes report the drives' correct size as 930GB.
I prefer to use the X3 BIOS.
Two questions:
- If I decide and use the X3 to format the drive as 120GB and 1.69TB, or just an F drive with all of the space, followed by using XPartitioner to format again and confirm thoes sizes in the other BIOSes, what problems will I have with a partition 1.7TB-ish in size?
- Is there a modded X3 BIOS that supports F and G being different sizes other than 127GB and "the rest"? The only choices from the X3 BIOS menu is 127GB F Drive with G getting the rest or F gets it all (in this case ~1.7TB)

I'm pretty sure you can set custom partitions in the x3 bios.
The only options in the BIOS, as shown on the screen, are:
Standard Partitions (Xbox Stock Drive)
F Drive gets everything - No G Drive
F Drive upto 137Gb - G Drive gets the rest

enable the save partition I forgot what it is called but there is like an option that starts with an L
That did it! Its under Disk Tools > New Hard Drive Upgrade > Use Saved Partition Table = Enabled. Back out to the main menu and Power Off. Power back on, and the partitions read the proper size.
I wasn't sure what exactly Use Saved Partition Table meant...now I do!
So after doing that, what problems could I run into if I do only create one large 1.7TB partition?

XBPartitioner v1.3 can set the partitions to use 16KB, 32KB or 64KB cluster sizes.
each cluster size supports a particular maximum size extended partition.
16KB = 256GB
32KB = 512GB
64KB = 1024GB
XBPartioner v1.3 should select the correct cluster size to partition the additional space on the hard drive.
There is no way to have 1.7TBs in a single partition. The maximum size a partition can be is 1TB. Therefore, you have to split the available space into smaller supported partition sizes. For a 2TB drive, that's 2 927.79GB partitions 6 and 7 - the F and G drives, respectively.
In the X3 BIOS, the Use Partition Table = Enabled reads the Partition table written by XBPartitioner v1.3 if found on the hard drive (sector 0) to know the size and cluster allocation size of the partitions.
The X3 BIOS can be used to format a new hard drive; however, it only supports 16KB clusters, not 32KB or 64KB. To use all the available space on a hard drive, you may be required to use XBPartitioner v1.3 instead of the X3 BIOS to properly format/partition the drive to use all of the available space.
