Hi all,
Digging the site thanks for having me. Currently have an issue I couldn't find a help topic for. My ultimate question is about consolidating partitions
Completed Rocky5 softmod -> Installed XBMC Emustation -> Completed HDD swap to 250gb IDE via Chimp and everything working fine.
My Q:/ partition is 4-5gb (default)
My F:/ partition is 230gb (great!)
The Emustation requires roms to be placed in the emulator root folders. If I dump them in Q:/.emustation/emulator/... folder everything scans and works. Since my F:/ partition is blank I'm a little stuck on how to dump the roms there.
I see where you can change the "roms" folder on emustation to scan for roms. I made a copy of Q:/.emustation and dumped it on F:/ root, I change emustation to scan emulators and roms from F:/.emustation and receive an error.
Is there a way I can utilize my large storage for holding roms, maybe merge it with F:/ or configure or any I looking to something different. Any help would be great !

I do not know how Emustation is set up to work but from what I know it is just a dedicated XBMC dashboard, or front-end as I think it is more properly described.
In which case you should not be touching the Q:\ drive at all - it is a virtual drive mirroring your 'XBMC' installation. So unless you've been directed to install ROMs there: do not.
This is from Rocky5's own ES readme:-
Roms and Emulators
You place your roms in the designated subdirectory in the .emustation\roms folder.
Same exact thing for the emulators, but in the .emustation\emulators folder.
Note: these paths can be customized in the Other Settings menu.
From what I can glean you should have installed XBMC-Emustation on the F:\drive and that is its location. But if it is on E:\ because your previous (retail?) HDD didn't have F:\ then the Q;| drive will be mirroring that.
So the last part of that readme seems relevant.
The Emulators and ROMs path can be changed to wherever you have the space available ie. the F:\drive now you have one.
This is mostly guess work for the reason stated; you really need someone who knows XBMC Emustation better than I do to get advice.

Thanks for the reply. You mentioned something in your post which I didn't consider and that's just re-installing the Emustation from scratch under the bigger partition.
Maybe I jumped the gun by installing Emustation first and then upgrading HDD. I'll install emustation from scratch on the bigger partition and see how it goes.

That would seem like a good idea.

They also have set file paths so you should look at the config file and make sure you are putting them where they should be and should not have anything in q drive that is xbox using that itself _________________ The one the only Scarface!!

Thanks again for the suggestions, this is now fixed for the most part.
1. Removed Emustation application completely from the base 5gb partition via FTP
2. From the default softmod dashboard, ran Chimp to format my F:/ partition so it was fully clean (possibly overkill but didn't have anything on there)
3. Transferred Emustation on base 5gb partition
4. Transferred Emustation again on F:/
5. Dumped roms into the F:/.emustation/roms respective folders
6. Ran Emustation (off base 5gb drive) changed the scan location to F:/.emustation/roms and F:/.emustation/emulators
7. Scanned and now it picks up properly.
Still some issues during the scan for roms saying its unable to build list due to no default.xbe but seems emulator specific and separate issue. So anyone doing this in the future should transfer Emustation to the base drive and bigger partition and point Emustation (that's running off base drive) to the install folders in bigger partition.
All my yolo attempts to correct the issue had me in a permanent broken state, format did the trick. Thanks for all the help !
