Hi everyone, I recently upgraded my OG hard drive to a 250 GB and it works like a charm! But the main reason I did this was to get original XBox games to the drive.
I am using FileZilla trying to move Project Gotham Racing. The file transfer always seems to fail at the same point. I tried another game and the transfer also failed.
Is there a better way to install OG games (from downloads) to the hard drive?
I should also add I am dropping the entire game folder into the "Games" folder on F. Should I be taking individual files out of the unzipped folder and use those instead?

Is the one file that fails >2GBs in size?
What is the filename?

When using Filezilla I find it rare that any big transfer to a Xbox is simple and uneventful. I often have to requeue a certain percentage of files from any such transfer, some times more than once. It is damned annoying because 99% of the time they do all eventually work.
I'm of the opinion that as long as the game is <4GB (Zipped/RARed) it is better to transfer it in that compressed form and unpack it on the Xbox. Despite that being a a very slow process and, if using UnleashX, prone to 'issues' too.
Nothing you can do about that except unpack everything individually, identify the problem file and then FTP that instead. Very tiresome and with some games featuring 50+ files and folders/sub-folders not worth the effort.
Honestly, in the case of a game, burning it to disc and using DVD2Xbox is a quicker and better solution.
XBMC's file manger will unpack compressed files too although it doesn't actually tell you it can. It can also deal with some of those 'issues' better than UnleashX but it is still painfully slow.

Blank DVDs are still easily found online and I've used DVD-Rs I've bought on the high street from what we in the UK call "£ Shops" ie. cheap as it gets and had no problems with any of my Xboxes disc drives.
The Hitachi disc drives have also proven to be very happy with Maxell DVD-RW. I bought a 10 pack for testing a long time ago and I've used several of them multiples times to transfer games.
I do use ImgBurn Full Erase rather than the Quick option before each burn and so far I've not had any failures to read problems, at least not with the Hitachi drives. The Samsung 605Fs and the one Philips drive I have do not like them at all.
