The problem: I can no longer boot to my ms dashboard. When i tell my xenium to boot from there it just restarts. I have no idea when this started as I haven't booted to it for a while. I tried completly refromating the hard drive and reinstalling my xenium firmware. Could this be a corrupt TSOP or a problem with the xenium. Any help would be err helpful. Thanks.

When you say your xenium firmware, do you mean you upgraded the OS to 2.0.1?

That is what I would try. If you remove the chip does the same thing happen?

Yeah it's on the newest version. I haven't tried removing the chip as that would mean opening it up, something I don't really want to do but I'll try and see when I have the time.

Yeah, if you remove the chip and it boots fine, at least you know it's a chip issue and we can try to figure out from there.

Let me know bud...good luck!

I saw that you said you reformatted, did you by anychance make sure to install the MS Dashboard back? I don't mean this as a rude comment, but as something that I have forgotten to do when changing dashboard versions. It could be as simple as that, or maybe even the default file name for the dashboard got changed somehow and it can't find it.

Yes I did reinstall the dashboard. I have checked by FTP to see if anythings missing and I can't find anything wrong.

Right then. I have removed my xenium and tried to boot my xbox. No joy. I tied removing the hard drive and dvd drive both to no avail. I've looked for anything that could be shorting. All that happens is that as soon as I boot the xbox switches off then turns on a again repeating this over and over again. I have no idea what the problem is. The only solution I can think of is switching with a spare motherboard and changing the EEPROM over (the spare one is banned from live). Any input would be really helpful.

I would bet it's something on the mobo, I just wish I could discern what exactly happened. At least you know it's not the chip. If it was my machine and I had a spare mobo, I'd probably go that route just to get it over with. Maybe someone else will read this and know what else to do.

Good luck man, let me know if you figure out what caused it. I can fix some traces on mobo's, but I have never removed the eeprom or messed with the TSOP on sub 1.6 versions. I am sure our softmodders are more in tune with the programming that goes into the inner workings of the machine. Something somewhere has to be corrupt causing that loop. I can't think of any hardware that would cause that. It has to be software related because it's only the MS Dash doing it correct? If you use your chip and hacked bios all is well in xbox land. So, when you are taking the MS Bios out of the picture all works fine. If you try to go to MS Dash with the hacked bios running do you get joy?

Yup no problems running a hacked bios or getting to the ms dash from evox which leaads me to believe I have a problem with the TSOP. I have now swapped motherboards anyway but I'd still like to know if there is any way of fixing the other one if anyone knows how.

Maybe one of our softmodders knows of a way to flash the TSOP with the original MS Bios? That's the route I would assume to go with.
