Where do you folks buy replacement parts for the XBox other than eBay. I am having a hard time locating parts. For Example: Replacement DVD ROM Drives, Lasers, Gears, Belts, etc...

Thompson Drive TGM600 (go figure). Gears are grinding when disk begins to spin. Looking for either the motor & gears, or the entire Laser Deck Assembly with Motors & Rails (easier to swap the assembly); would even buy a replacement drive.
My dear XBox is just falling apart this month. LOL. I failed to remove the Clock Capacitor, so it leaked and ruined a few traces (Symtoms where no disk eject, no power button functions, and powered on when plugged in, and only turned off when I unplugged it). I removed the capacitor, and did the trace repairs; so the XBox is working great once again, but now my Thompson is failing. LOL. I cleaned the belt and lense, and gave it new/fresh molykote grease, but was unable to address the disc motor and gear grinding. Need parts.
Should not have ignored all those XBox's in the thrift stores in the past. Should have figured I would need the parts at some point.

is that your preferred drive as i have multiple and i got some nice hitachi-lg drives that work like new they was pulled from machines that was barely played ha. Let me know your zip i would think $25+ shipping which would be maybe $8-10 should work but not sure where abouts you are but this drive will work perfect it reads all the media i throw in it from burned to retail and this drive on ebay is going for $49+9 Shipping so a lot better deal from me also if you needing anything else a spare xbox just let me know ha. I pick up xboxs all the time so.
i have sold a lot of stuff on this site over the years so check the classifieds many people will vouch for me. _________________ The one the only Scarface!!

I should certainly hope not. The Thomson drives were notorious for pitting discs like the early 360's. Hitachi is pretty much tied with Philips V2 for best drive on the XBOX. And they are the newest since they only went into refurbs after the 1.6b production run ended.
What are you charging for a Hitachi? My Philips is slowly giving up the ghost. Longer and longer read times. Ive got a few Sammy drives but never liked them, always getting the drawer issue and not liking DVD-r
@OP
I normally find my parts at thrift shops, grab untested consoles for 5 bucks then tear em apart. And I have a crap load of controller ports, PSU's heat sinks and Sammy drive parts kicking around if you need any.

No not a fan of the Thompson drive. Microsoft should never have used this drive in their system; nor should they have used the stupid Clock Capacitor. They should have charged $2 more for the Xbox and included the CR2032 Coin Cell Battery. Stupid decision, but hey... they also made Windows ME. LOL
Sent you a PM Scarface.
Thanks.
