If this post is in the incorrect place please move it , i just honestly don't know where to put such a post. Thanks
I was wondering if XBOX uses checksum for its save files when modified through a Hex Editing software?

I think it's a bit stronger than a checksum. See XSavSig005.zip, ForzaSign.rar, etc from the usual places. (A few in Xbox-HQ's Game Hacking download section.)
Some games had more security than others.
Left up to the developer of a game how secure the save file contents were made to keep game modders at bay.

There is no set in stone standard when it comes saves. Ive made from scratch saves for dozens of games and its very rare Ive had any fail because the XBOX refuses to accept them. The only caveat is to not edit the first 4 bytes as this will distort the header and give you a "corrupted" save

Well i'm not trying to edit a save, rather the active memory of the game. i suppose they consider it EEPROM?!

The eeprom is just for the HDD key, nothing else gets stored there. When a game gets loaded on the XBOX it uses the X/Y/Z partitions for pagefile/temp even when running a game from HDD and constantly wipes them. Some will create a custom settings folder in TDATA that you could maybe edit for some changes. But thats basically it

Ah KIxxx your correct, i felt like a jackass telling you that the other night after i read some other sources online...and to think i was comittied to going out and building a quick cable for doing such.
On the other hand, yes i'm seeking alt. means to this. However,i don't want to use just the gamesave data if i can help it.Id like it to be optional. As you just said it is seen only when the game is active. When the game closes so does it ,so this is where i felt just a generic game save wouldn't do me justice.
As far as you said with the drive partitions and its pagefile/cache temp while running... I wonder like you've said about the TDATA and UDATA folders holding them until the game wipes them from there.
Lastly , reading online at other sites and such i've seen some progs called peekpoker and a few various other ones which i fail to remember the names atm, some being those that are used to edit other ogxbox titles. But i was curious would those be able to view the active memory on the partitions or w/e?
Thanks again for your time&paitence

No need to feel like a jack ass. Ive been there a billion times. It seems logical so hey. Just the sad truth is XBOX is not logical. If you want a good understanding Id suggest you check out my Dev Kit download section and pay particular attention to Penny Ops/RDX
Ok right on! , so just what am i paying particular attention to? Is there a piece of it that may be of interest to my pursuit? Also by chance would you know where i can obtain a XDK software? Or is that even possible? Thanks again KIxxx

The 5849.7z or 5933.7z in the first link is what you want. You will need an older Visual Studio like VS2003 to compile xbe's. And if running on Win7 64bit make sure you disable compatibility settings for Visual Studio or it will constantly crash.
You will also want the Debug.7z file. It will allow you to connect the XBOX to your PC (with XDK installed) and track exactly what a game is doing.Memory locations, what files are being used and when and how etc
The second link is a direct download link for Penny Ops/RDX so may not work depending on your browser settings

Hey KIxxx ,
Sorry for the late reply been tieing up loose ends and such. Anywho yes ill hop right on that prog and give it a go. Also not to change what i said early but now i have a need for tha EEPROM cable as i'm doing a swap, so doesn't this warrent a use for the cable/prog?
Ill be sure to go and grab a copy of the earlier VS release so i can compile but honestly i've never compiled any software so id need a tut on it if you could provide. Id like to learn to compile.for homebrewing apps/games purposes. Been doing alot of digging on that subject but illl save it for another thread.
Also i'm currently on win10 x64 so iono if ill be able to run VS2003 or not with or without compatiblity mode enabled or not. ill just have to let you know how that works out. Or maybe you would know better than myself. = )
The debug file your speaking of,right. Is XDK installed in this 7Zip folder? Or is this a seperate download i need to look up online to find?
Anywho sorry if its a overload of questions and all but i feel your more knowledgeable with this perticular console than i am/ever was, so yes your my mentior atm lol. Well i'm off again. Cheers and thanks for all your help KIxxx!

The 5849.7z or 5933.7z is the XDK program that you install on a PC and if you have an older VS installed will allow you to compile executables for the XBOX. The Debug.7z gets installed on the XBOX. Its what would be running on an actual Debug XBOX but installed as an app.
Unless the XBOX is messed up you can access the EEPROM chip using an app like Configmagic. It will allow you to wipe and flash the eeprom, zero the HDD key etc. For a serial programmer you will need an old PC (havent seen a serial port on a PC in ages) or make/buy a serial to usb adapter. Pretty sure theres a tut in the tutorial section here on how to make one.
