hi randy,
ok.. There are a few different types of XBOX DVD ROM's around.
I have a SAMSUNG XBOX DVDROM drive which luckily reads cdr's..
All the other XBOX DVD ROM Drives e.g Phillips, Thompson DO NOT read CDR's at all. They only read some CDRW's (very picky).
You best bet is to ftp the file over to your xbox from your pc via a network cable.. THere are tutorials in our xbox tutorials sectoin here on how to connect a pc and xbox (flashfxp)..

If you cant get a CDRW working you will need to burn your stuff to dvd-r or ftp anyway.

My Phillips drive has no problems running cd-r disks. It also runs most any dvd-r I throw at it, but it is missing the two holes that makes a samsung, and the middle whole matches the phillips perfectly. _________________

I have modded machines where one Samsung would not read a +R disk and the next did....very strange... It was the same disk.
The machine that I finished last night had a sammy in it and it would not read TDK DVD+R's, but it read the TDK-R's perfectly.
I definitely have never been able to get a Samsung to read a Memorex DVD+R....I have found that no matter what drive I have, DVD-R's work the best. I haven't been able to get a Phillips to read my CDR's, but I am sure it's the brand that I was using because they were pretty cheap. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

I use verbatim, think the cost was about $20-25 for a 100pk spindle, maybe less. Gotta love the whole sam walton monopoly, heh. _________________

Have you burned any Verbatim DVD9 disks and used them on the xbox with any success?
I tried one and it didn't work out. I have heard a few people say they have burned DL disks and successfully used them on the xbox. One of these days I have to try another using a different burning program. At the time I was using an older version of Clone DVD2 to burn the disk.
The new version actually has better DVD9 support and I have burned six or seven movies fine. What puzzles me is the movies play perfectly in all of my DVD players, but won't play on the xbox. I know that the DVD9 games and DVD's that play in the xbox now are pressed and not buned, but you would think it wouldn't be that hard to get it to fly.
I would bet that someone can come up with some hacked firmware to flash to the xbox dvd drives to get better media support. Just wish I had the time to look into it. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter
