After a lot of trouble, i'm stuck again!
I'm trying to softmod with a new HD
I boot up AutoBuilder V5.1, choose option 1, and after entering the xboxhd command this happens:
Code:
Looking for CD-ROM in /dev/hdb(-t)
^ This line is repeated a bunch of times with /dev/hdc , /dev/hdd , /dev/hde and so on...
Code:
Mounting /dev/hdb(-t) on /xboxhdm failed! No such device or address
Linux CD not found! Insert it and try again....
I tried with two different DVD drives (IDE and SATA)
Any idea on what's wrong here?

SATA is a no go it must be IDE.
#1 If the DVD drive is hooked to the same IDE port as the HDD, the DVD MUST be set to SLAVE. If its on a secondary port it can be set to Master or Slave.
#2 ALWAYS burn AutoBuilder and Babylon DVD's at 8x with Imgburn, and CDs at 24x. I know lots of people like to burn shit at 4x and 16x, but this isnt like a game or a movie.
#3 Dont use cheapo media. Rite-K all the way when it comes to DVD (Maxell, Memorex, Verbatim, TDK and many other brands use Rite-k discs and rebrand em) For CDs Ive only had good results using Verbatim and Philips.

One of my setups was:
IDE Ribbon cable with:
The HDD closest to the Mobo (set to master)
The DVD player on the end of the cable (set to slave)
I burned the image in IMGBURN at 24x
The only thing i'm missing is the Verbatim or similiar media (i'm using TDK CDR)
If TDK is better for DVD i can try with that

Ive never used TDK CDR's so cant say as to their quality. If you pop one in and load up Imgburn it will list the manufacturer ID. If it comes up Tayo Yunden, Mitsubishi Chemical, Kodak or RiteK then its a quality disc. Not sure who TDK farms out the CD-r from, DVDs are RiteK for sure though.
The other thing to keep in mind and this has been an issue since the day one with CD-r is that not all brands play nice with drives. And this is especialy true of live linux from RAM distros. It has to be able to read the entire kernel and file system info right away and load it into RAM or it just wont work. My Benq DVD-RW/DL drive cant read live linux discs for shit, same discs run fine in my LG and Pioneer drives though.

Turns out TDK CDs are from Moser Baer India.
Next try is with a verbatim DVD.
Only for the sake of testing, if every IDE drive i have fails, There's any way to boot Autobuilder from USB? that would solve all my issues i suppose...
UPDATE:
Burned the ISO with imgburn at 8x on a Verbatim DVD, tried with 2 DVD IDE drives, same issue.
I'll try to find other drives, those may be faulty given the fact they're old as Jesus and were in my basement for ages...

If you download XBOXHDM2.2 copy the Pimped folder over and try it via USB. But again you may have compatability issues because 2.2 is very BIOS picky. I cant guarantee success going USB 2.2 route, but I can say conclusively 5.1 has been used 10's of thousands of times so I know its solid. AutoBuilder was in the minority of my apps that got a very thorough testing. Full colonoscopy and prostate exam was performed
