So I modded my Xbox a while back and shortly thereafter the LAN port died on it and the power port started to go as well. I went and got another Xbox and figured I would just take my already modded HDD and put it in the other console since I have games on the drive and all my saves anyway. I don't really remember how to do anything with this stuff anymore and all of the tutorials I followed at first seem to have vanished. What would the best course of action be here if I wanted to make this work?

You need the eeprom from the cooked XBOX to unlock the HDD then you need to softmod the new XBOX and get its eeprom to lock the HDD. Use XBOXHDM1.9 to unlock/lock

Use either Babylon or AutoBuilder5.1 to make your installer disc

Alright so the download for that was taking too long so I just got the Pimped CD mentioned in the video and used that instead. Now I'm trying to get the box to FTP but it doesn't seem to be agreeing with me. I'm using the ethernet cable that came with my 360 so I'm gonna go ahead and figure that it is crossover and not patch. Also, I am able to ping the IP address with no problems.
Xbox settings:
IP Address: 192.168.1.21/24
Gateway: 0.0.0.0
PC Settings:
IP Address: 192.168.1.27/24

The /24 is a way of abbreviating the subnet mask. Instead of typing out 255.255.255.0. Sorry for the confusion.

The sub net plays no part in the FTP all you need to enter is Port21, IP and XBOX:XBOX

So the DNS being the same as your computer's IP doesn't matter? Because I'm able to ping but it's not connecting in FlashFXP. All of the tutorials are pretty straight forward but not in depth enough to explain what I might be doing wrong.

Check your firewall settings and be sure FLASHFXP and FTP are both allowed. Also try opening Internet Explorer and typing ftp://xbox:xbox@192.168.1.21. The same DNS should not matter as both PC and XBOX will be using the same DNS server so by default should be the same DNS.
Last thing you can try is installing Avalaunch as an app and run it then try to FTP

The firewall is turned off. I just went to the store and got a crossover cable just to make sure what I'm using actually is correct. I can't seem to find a good download for Avalaunch. Their website no longer exists aparently and the 7z I got from theisozone.com and burned it but it just comes up as an empty disc to my Xbox.

You DONT need a cross-over lol. Cross-over is to direct connect to a PC with no internet and static IP the old way. I posted how to do it with just an ethernet cable like 2 years ago. But if you have net then there is never a reason for cross-over.
To run Ava via disc it must be burned as an ISO. I strongly suggest taking the time to just download Babylon. It has 2 live dashes (UnleashX and Ava) built in and runnable from disc, and can update that old ass Pimped CD mod, update your emus and ROM sets, update XBMC etc.
But if you dont want to wait, then use CXBOX-tools to turn the Ava folder you downloaded into an ISO. Be sure that the xbe file in the folder is named default.xbe (if its named avalaunch.xbe it wont work unless renamed to default)

That sounds great but I can't find a download for Babylon. I'll have to keep looking I guess.

LMFAO look on the home page below users online. Youll see a scrolling menu of Latest Downloads, Babylon is the first one.
Or alternatively click on Downloads then Exploits/Mods (its the one with big blue NEW beside it)
Heres a taste of what Babylon brings to the table. http://www.youtube.com/user/Lef0rt0v0/videos?sort=dd&tag_id=UCHY0q50zPyUd85LwSXVvdag.3.babylon&view=46&shelf_index=3
Im not saying this just cause I made it but, IT IS the most complete mod pack/exploit ever made. I fit a mind boggling amount to the disc (like 11GB worth of goodness in a 4.35GB ISO-Dont ask cause if I told you how I did it Id have to kill you lol) Mod security is at its highest, HD patch at its best, install time at lowest, difficulty at its easiest, compatability at its greatest. Backdoors like you wouldnt believe. Just the other day we had a user here running Kingroach Ndure and couldnt unmount his shadow C. HEXEN failed, AID failed, but my lil backdoor went in and bitch slapped his shadow c lol. Works with EVERY mod released to date from STB to UDE to PBL to SID to NDURE.

Okay so I got Babylon, I installed Avalaunch, I installed the Xbox FTP client, and now what? I'm unable to change my IP settings in Avalaunch and I have no idea how to use the Xbox FTP client. Also, suddenly I'm unable to ping my Xbox. I'm not sure what I could possibly be doing wrong at this point. I was able to FTP on my first Xbox prior to the LAN port dying just fine.
