I burned a memorex then of all things a sony dvd, the sony loaded babylon.
Went to XBMC dash cleanup and let it run, rebooted and I get a perma black screen boot that just hangs, can't boot into the dash, though I can boot into babylon if it's in the box. The led even goes orange.
I can't FTP anymore, does the cleanup default the static setup?

thats the exact same thing i got too
as soon as i switched to ntsc it was fine, with me it was the sega master system (sms) and nintendo (nes) emulators were doing that.
sorry i cant help any further , it would have been an easy fix as it was for me.

my next update after hours of digging around.
my e/f folders seem largely unchanged so roms and artwork and emulator setups are still there waiting.
I went back through everything after getting nothing but a blackscreen after running xbmc dash cleanup followed by xbmc softmod on the babylon disc. If I did just that and rebooted the xbox without the disc it would boot to blackscreen and thats it. If after doing a xbmc dash cleanup I selected evox softmod then it would restart the xbox and boot into evox.
I'm trying to figure out how to put xbmc back on as default boot, if I can restore that I should have no issues just redesigning the skin of it and getting right back to where I was.
I see hope, just not sure what to replace what with to get myself booting into xbmc. a few more hours and tutorials later this might come back to life

If you hit XBMC-Softmod thats a default SID boot dash. If its giving you issues (you used SID to softmod right?) Go to MODS section and hit one of the SOftmods that offer XBMC Or if you wanna move up in the word pick an UnleashX mod. XBMC is NOT a dash, its a media player thats been whored as a dash but doesnt cut it lol

I'll keep playing with the different installers and see what I can make happen. I know it's just a matter of getting the right files on after wiping old ones off. Half delirious after doing this for hours. Probably get a fresh start after triying this last xbmc -dash cleanup followed by xbmc-softmod attempt.
edit
and it works now, magically, after doing this a handful of times tonight. I know somewhere it was just doing things in the wrong order but...yeah this is good. XMBC is pretty and convenient in my eyes but before I start configuring it I think i'll at least look at unleashed then
However, after all that. FBL and SNES both still give me the original busted screen that I posted an image of

You can test how Ux would be by popping Babylon in and use its filemanager to browse to the emu default.xbe and clicking it. All my installers are just modified Ux. But I would seriously recomend going XBMC as app, Ux as dash. Ux is much easier to work with and fix if you hit an error. XBMC you get an error youre stuck going to the XBMC site which is pretty much a black hole when it comes to errors. Past year or so its just been "submit a bug report" then nothing, no response no help etc. You could also in a pinch reinstall both those emus using Babylon both were include, but FBL has jack for ROMs

I've been at it again this morning after some sleep.
Tried out unleashed. The dash still isn't my issue. When I launch some of the emulators im still getting those crazy lines all over my screen with the emu running in the background.
So with resetting dash defaults and even changing them I have to assume it has nothing to do with TV/video output configurations. I'm currently FTPing replacement emulators to see if that will fix the issue, maybe its a corruption to the emulator files in E drive and I just need brand new launcher files?
No idea but this is all it ever was before I messed up my install, just glad I'm still able to access it again

If your xbox is set to 720p but the emu set to 480i or vice versa youll get the same kind of distortion. If you check the emus config file you can see if its set to the wrong res.

I feel like thats the prime issue, but with that madness on my screen I can't tell where I'm navigating in the emu launcher to be able to change it's configuration file.
Previously I had never altered anything in any emulators for video output and they all worked, this just randomly happened.

aaaand finally.
I hooked the box up to an old non hd tv, was able to view the emulators and set everything back to default, brought back out to HD tv and voila, all good. Except for FBL but I can live with that for now.

We have the latest FBL here on site. And for future refrence you can use UnleashX to view and edit the emus config file if you have such an issue. Just use its filemanager to browse to the emu and click on its config file and Ux will open it in the text editor.

I got FBL working.
I hate to admit it but I think the problem that sent me on a long wild ride of issues was I hadn't enabled 480 resolution, with that set there's no more static on the screen...lmfao.
Regardless, I learned how to use your Babylon disc really well and how to boot into another dash to update a current one and all sorts of stuff..
Honestly, without your disc I'd have been screwed cause I wouldn't have been able to reset the network settings and FTP back in.
Awesome stuff and many thanks. I do believe this xbox is all finished finally

Thats a video/skin config issue. Your emus are configured to run at different res (SD vs HD) than the softmod.
