All you really need to do is connect the xbox to your network and look at the dashboard and find the ip address (hopefully you have DHCP setup on your router).. If you know the ip address of the xbox just download a free ftp app for your pc. You ftp into the xbox like this:

If you don't have a router, hub or switch you will need a cross-over cable.

example: (Xbox IP: 192.168.0.2)

1. Open your FTP Program
2. Click "New Site" and enter the following EXAMPLE details

ip: 192.168.0.2
user: xbox
pass: xbox

I would suggest doing a backup of the eeprom as well.

Here is a tutorial i wrote ages ago but should help you:

How to Network (FTP) a XBOX and PC:

try setting max users to 6x upwards on the dash side and the same for the FTP client!
(i only use UNLX but the principle should be the same!)
..
need MORE info, like the dash, NW cfg on both sides...blah!
Arrow
[edit]...
make sure you're using "socket/port 21" on both sides....

perhaps your firewall maybe blocking the socket?
check cfg!

try turning off any antivirus or firewalls temporarily. That may be the issue.

go into the xbox dasboard and look for settings. Like ip address, subnet, and gateway.. To find out what network settings your laptop is running do this.

1. Choose start menu and type run (or in windows 8 type "cmd" from start menu)
2. Type "cmd" without the quotes and press enter (return)
3. type "ipconfig /all" and press return.

this will show you all your network info.. make sure everything is simlar between your xbox and pc.

sometimes strange filenames can cause transfers to fail. Just hang in there sounds like you nearly got it working. Try copying over a txt file or something small. hope we have helped.
