Hello Chaps!


I recently assembled all of the necessary do-dads to soft mod my original Xbox, after a double check to make sure nothing would go wrong, I discovered that my dashboard version isn't quite up to date.

I'll be using the SID installer for the mod, the manual for which states that a 1.00.5960.00 Dashboard is recommended to have, though not necessary. And that the soft mod will require the Auto-Installer Deluxe DVD to finish off the installation if it's not up to date.

So basically my question is:

Is it safe to continue the modding process, and finish it with the Auto-Installer Deluxe DVD, or should I buy a copy of Splinter Cell 2 or 3 to update the dashboard to the required version?

I have no problem with buying either of the games to update it, but if it's unnecessary, I could commence to modding immediately.

Any advice would be much appreciated. Smile

Any live enabled game will work to update your dash. Just pop it in and hit connect to live. dont even need the xbox to be connected to the net. Thats the best thing to do.

First off, thanks for the reply! Smile

Unfortunately the only Xbox game I have is the first splinter cell, for the mod itself.

The way the manual was worded made it sound as if the update wasn't completely necessary, as then I wouldn't have to wait for the Live capable game to arrive to perform the update. Laughing

I suppose it's best to be cautious with these things though.
