Posted: Sun Oct 07, 2012 6:11 am Post subject: Video cuts out than comes back on. any ideas?
I picked up a component cable a while ago to replace my original composite one. The thing is periodicaly the video will flicker, shake and then go out, but I still have audio. this never happened with the composite just the component (I'm on my second one just to be sure it wasen't the cable) what would cause this to happen? Thank you.

Have you tried using the old cables that didn't have an error again just to confirm that an issue hasn't arised since then? _________________

I had a similar issue when I got my HD pack, but mine would go back to the xbox logo.
I realized it was a bad connection at the connector. I took it out and pushed it back in many times and now the problem is gone, so I take it was just a dirty connection on one of the pins used for the component output.

the old cable never had the problem the first time I used the composite the issue happened, than I exchanged it and the new one also did it.. I tried unplugging and plugging it back in a couple times but that didn't help... I havent blowen out the a/v port with canned air yet... maybe my video chip is getting hot?

It is possible that your video chip is starting to crap out, but I would try blowing out the port with compressed air first. You may also want to try another cable if it's possible. Its highly unlikely that would you get two bad cables in a row, but it could happen. _________________

I'm on my second cable now, I guess I'll try the canned air next... I hope it's not the video card...
