Hi all,

I have been lurking on Xbox-HQ for about a year now so I thought it was about time I did an intro. I also read all the 'Newbie' stickies and updated my signature....

Thing was though, I wasn't sure which of my Xbox's to put in my signature as I have about 20 of them. About half of these have mod chips, a couple have soft mods, and there are quite a few standard ones as well.

The Xbox that I use most is a Halo Special Edition with a DuoX3 modchip and a 320GB Hitachi HDD, and the other one I use a lot is the one in my signature.

I guess I ended up with so many Xboxes as I found that the cheapest way to buy Xbox games was to buy a second hand Xbox that was bundled with 10 or 20 games. In doing so, I have ended up with more than 400 original Xbox games.

Of all the Xboxes that I have collected , I think the coolest and rarest (and possibly most valuable Very Happy ) is my PAL (Aust/NZ) translucent blue Xbox. According to all my research efforts, there was never any translucent blue PAL Xboxes made. Translucent blue limited edition Xboxes were released in North America (NTSC) and in Japan/Asia (NTSC-J) but supposedly never in PAL format regions.

My translucent blue Xbox is similar to the Kasumi-chan blue 'Dead or Alive Ultimate' Xbox released in Japan as it has a silver jewel (similar also to the Canadian ice blue Halo 2 limited editions). However, mine is definitely a PAL Xbox, with all its seals intact. It is completely standard, and is a 1.4/1.5 version PAL Xbox. It has a Thomson DVD drive. There is no way that I am going to crack it open to accurately determine the version number LOL!

The history behind this Xbox is that it is one of two Xboxes given away by Microsoft in New Zealand to the owner/manager of the retail store that sold the most copies of Halo 2. There was one for the North Island and one for the South Island. I bought this from the owner of the South Island Harvey Norman store that won the Microsoft competition in the South Island.

If anyone is interested in seeing photos of this Xbox I will work out how to post up photos on this forum.

Cheers,
mugendog

Becaue it is a special edition Xbox, it might not be a 1.4 or 1.5. Cool though. 1 of 2 in the world. That is pretty rare. Even the Xboxes given to the launch team didn't have boxes that rare.

True; there were over 200 Launch Team Xboxes. Apparently, the rarest limited edition Xbox is a pure white "50 Cent" limited edition Xbox that was given away in a promotion by music channel [V] in Australia. The Xbox was signed by 50 Cent, and was given away with 50 Cent: Bulletproof (the Xbox game), a 50 Cent CD, and a 50 Cent poster.

50 Cent:Bulletproof is such a crap game that Gamespot gave it 4.8/10 (poor). Legend has it though that the winner of the limited edition 50 Cent Xbox turned down an offer of $15,000 USD for it.

No problem, we'd love to see your pics.. Just post a new thread for your pics and attach the photos to your forum thread. its pretty easy.

anyway, enjoy the place and if you own a Xbox 360 don't forget to login on 360-HQ and say hi and add your Xbox LIVE gamertag.

Didn't know you had a dreamx, Hobbs. Is it like everybody says: a bit too fast or is that sorted by the BIOS?

I only own two and one gets used for hours every day and one doesn't work at all because I crapped up an Xecuter 2.6 modchip. The only problem is that I don't know why it is broken. I fixed the lifted trace properly but it still is dead.

yeh most of the games ran too fast, but i think there was a bios release like you mentioned which fixed that. I just used it mainly for emulators etc,, i wanted to run mame roms the big ones.

The ram helped out a load.

I didnt realize that the dreamx were so rar, still have mine here, i should turn it on, it ain't been on in months.
hhehe

I thought the extra RAM could only be used by something like linux. Somebody said that the GPU can't call upon extra RAM, so it wouldn't help.

Do you still get CPU temp on XBMC or another dash? I heard that when somebody called trusty puts a P3 Tutaliin in an Xbox, it messes up the temp detection. I guess the DreamX Xboxes have an extened heatsink and conductive grease.

There was a special version of MAME compiled for the DreamX. It was very cool.
