I recently bought a used 1.6 xbox with the xenium gold modchip and can't seem to get a hacked dashboard installed and working. I have tried installing Evolution-X following the Xenium Ice Total Newbie's Guide but no luck.
Here's what I know about this xbox: version 1.6, xenium gold modchip running xenium os 2.3.1, X2 5035 bios, samsung drive, upgraded HDD (E and F drive visible). I have FTP access to the xbox and have a confirmed working AID 4.53 disc.
When I turn on the xbox with the power button, i get a black screen with the message that says xecuter 2 config live loading, followed by the xbox splash screen with a pink box at the bottom that says xecuter rox my box, then the stock MS Dash loads and I can play original games and backups. When I turn on the xbox with the eject button it boots to the xenium os.
I suspect that the bios is fine but that it keeps loading the MS Dash since a hacked dash is not present - I just can't seem to get it to recognize a hacked dash (I've tried FTP'ing evolution-x, unleashx and xbmc; also tried installing xbmc as C drive dash with AID). I'm wondering if perhaps a file is missing from the hard drive, or if something needs to be configured. My goal is to end up with XBMC as my dash.
Any help would really be appreciated.

Pop in AID and reboot your XBOX. It may take a few minutes but one it boots pick Dash Install (Modchip) and pick the dash you want

@SPPV,
I tried that and it appeared as though XBMC installed fine, but the console still wouldn't load it as the dash.
After a little more digging around I read something about needing to edit the x2config.ini file to point to the default.xbe for XBMC. I opened up the x2config.ini file and discovered that it was pointing to the c drive for dash1 - I had installed XBMC to the e drive. After changing the path to point to the e drive I got it to work. Woohoo! I'm back in business.
Thanks for the quick response.

No worries and for future reference most modchips look to C for dash and softmods look to E. And if you like XBMC as dash then Im sure you will like my Spoof Disc installer. Monthly releases of the latest available XBMC with dash or app install in under 2 minutes.

@SPPV,
I guess this is a reflection that all my experience up to this point was with softmodded xboxes. I'll check out your spoof disc installer.
Thanks again.
