I'm not 100% sure it works because I dont have a HDD yet, though what I did was I snipped off a controller end and took a female usb end and wired them together. I'll try to post pics of it. I tested it by putting a flash drive in, how ever I got an error the flash drive did light up so is that a good sign it works? Also what do you guys suggest for making sure the wires dont get loose just electrical tape or once the electrical tape is on it will any type of tape be safe?

Wrap the wires individualy with electrical tape then if you have any use snrinkwrap or sheathing tape to wrap the whole thing to ensure nothing comes apart. You use sheathing and that suckers never gonna come apart we use it for hanging containments at haz mat jobs. Anybody can buy it at Home Depot for like 6 bucks a roll. But if you dont have either I recomend duct tape or electrical for wrapping the whole thing
