If I could put a USB port on my xbox could I just put my games on a thumb drive and then move them to my HDD that way so I didn't need to mess with this FTP mess anymore?

If I were you Id put AID in use the file manager to delete the Hexen dash then install Unleashx off AID. Theres obviously something wrong with your dash if it worked before with Evox. Just open E and delete all single files and leave the folders intact go to the AID dashboard section and install Unleashx to E

Well then I guess I'll give that another go. Last time I downloaded AID the instructions made it seem a bit too complicated when it really shouldn't be. Also, the video you had me watch, when I tried to use that as a guide I was only further confused and saw more problems. My xbox, when switched to DHCP, would not recognize an IP for me to FTP to via a browser even after disabling and enabling network sharing and rebooting both my computer and my xbox. Btw, I have another HDD currently set up with my original EvoX dash just in case I need to switch over to it so I can see what is different. All I need to do is pop that one in for this one and see (I did try to FTP to that HDD, no luck either).

You dont need to update AID or anything just burn the ISO to disc, it has the latest UnleashX dash already.
The only other possibility is that your XBOX`s ethernet port is dead

I'd go with SPPV's last suggestion.. Just grab SID or Auto Installer Deluxe and install another dash. Worst case scenario is you can install another dash as a application and then just run it from your existing dash.
Also, it sounds to me like your crossover cables is broken or your firewall or virus software is stopping you from pinging your xbox.. (that' where i would start).
Turn off all your pc firewall (if you are running one), and setup your xbox like this:
Xbox IP: 192.168.0.50
PC IP: 192.168.0.1
SubNET: 255.255.255.0
If you want to know how to figure out if you have a cross over cable follow my simple tutorial

Or if you dont want to install another dash you can use this attachment. Just unzip and burn to dvd-r at 4x put it in and hit launch dvd. If you are running a shared DHCP like in my tut you can use either crossover or ethernet, but if you are using a static IP it must be a crossover
I burned Avalaunch, put it in, launched it, but it required me to use it in File manager so I launched the .xbe and now I don't know what to do. It just gives me options like a regular dash would

all you do is put it in and boot then try ftp. Avalaunch had the best FTP of any dash. This is just like running a linux live disc, instead of doing a reinstal or dash replacement. If it stil wont work then either your ethernet port is messed or the issue is on the PC end

When you say you have your xbox directly connected, do you mean directly connected to your PC? If so, I am assuming your PC is running through wireless connection right? If so, take a look at ICS (Internet Connection Sharing).. Go to your control panel, manage network connections, right click and hit properties then switch over to the sharing tab.
Once you have done that, just make sure that "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection" is checked and then reassure your XBMC network settings are set to DCHP then restart your xbox. _________________
