Hi guys, my brother helped me out with modding my xbox and installing a 500 gig hd back in 2007 and recently the hard drive inside of it died Sad. I have the backup on my computer i think but i have no idea how to redo another hard drive to make it work. Someone gave there old box with a SID 4 installer on a memcard so i tried tackling the softmod myself. Everything went well and i made the C n Eeprom backups to the G drive (i believe....whatever the default location is). Downloaded the latest AID disk and installed a few apps.

Now this is where im stuck......Xbmc wont see my network shares, it gives me errors for everything i try to do. And the stock MS dash will not load at all. The box had the latest dash n kernal already on it. Im kinda confused. So i would like to redo the softmod with the assistance of this site so i know did everything properly.

So the first thing i wanted to ask, how do i completely remove the softmod and restore the Xbox back to its original retail state?

Thanks guys Smile

Well what you can do is get your Eeprom from the PC where you backed it up, download XBHDM from us here and then you will need a copy of the xbox C drive.

What you will do is use a tool in the XBHDM folder to turn it into an ISO after copying the eeprom and C information over.

After all this burn the ISO of course at the slowest speed possible and a dvd-r would be better than a dvd+r.

Then hook up your new hard drive and disconnect all other hard drives inside your computer and boot the disk.

Choose option 1 to build the hdd from scratch, then the lock option as it is a softmod which means you HAVE to have the HDD locked to the mobo with the eeprom.

Then put the hdd in your xbox.

Now that this is all done, you will need a softmod game (007 AUF, Mech Assault or Splinter Cell 1) and a mem card to copy the files over (which you said you have already) and then boot the game, go to campaign, load a game and you will see a game save called "Run Linux" after this run it, backup everything including your Eeprom again and then install softmod choosing what suits you the best of the options available.

Any further questions, please ask!

OK i made an Iso from the XboxHDM program and copied clean MS dash files to C, made a UDATA n TDATA folder in E , and copied my "Eeprom.bin" file over to it. Clicked the "make-iso-win.bat" file to make my ISO n burned at a 4x speed. Now when i unplug all my other hard drives n boot the disk with the xboxs hard drive, it comes up to the first screen where it wants me to select an option. After making a selection , it just goes to a blank screen in sits there.......

Was i to copy over the .txt files over from the Eeprom backup folder as well with the Eeprom.bin file??

O, you also need to make sure that your BIOS on your PC has the DVD/CD drive enabled for booting otherwise it may not boot the disk.

But that should be it, the make-is-win should make it boot-able for you.

Just double check the PC BIOS and make sure your DVD drive is connected as well.

It is, buddy. The CD boots up and after i make a selection it goes to a black screen......im out of CD's Sad.

Is there a way to put this on a thumb drive?

And is the Eeprom.bin all i needed to put in the "Eeprom" folder?

Hmmm very odd.

Well i know for a fact you would have to put nothing more than the eeprom.bin in there as that is the key but nothing else would be needed in there.

As for if it will boot off of a flash drive, im sure it will but the code would need to be changed to allow the system to know that you are actually booting from a USB port and not a CD/DVD drive.

If its going to a black screen, maybe the file you downloaded is corrupt. I say get another batch of discs and try to redownload the files and give it one more shot at least. If this does not work let us know and we will look further into it. Also if it still doesnt work, please port PC specs if known!
