I've got my xbox set up nice. It's got an 80 gig hard drive, and it's soft-modded. I've got some of my games already on my hard drive and they work fine, but I've had problems putting my copies of Rainbow Six 3: Black Arrow and Leisure Suit Larry. Black Arrow asks you to hit start, it tries to load and then goes back to the hit start screen. Leisure Suit Larry says that I need the disc. I probably need to change the default.xbe file, but I don't know what to change to make it look for the games on the hard drive. Can anybody help?

BTW: these are my games that I bought, not copies, I just want to be able to select my games instead of putting discs in.

Sounds like you need to patch them. You just need to find the patched xbe file and replace the existing one and you should be good to go. Unfortunately, I don't know if it's any different than a chipped machine so you may have to wait till someone more versed in softmodding replies. We have one or two newer members that are very versed in softmodding and I am sure they will lend a helping hand.

I think once we get enough members we may even have a separate section for it...who knows.

Good luck to you with your issue, and welcome to the site. I hope you are able to get the info that you need!

Softmodding is the process of making your system act like it is running a modchip by only using software exploits, you load a bios into memory patching the real bios, but you can do anything that a hard modded box can do, atleast i can't find anything you can't do yet. It also doesn't void your warranty because you can just click a few buttons, ftp a few files, and then have your stock hard drive back (assuming you never open and add a new hard drive, but where's the fun in that???).

actually softmods is a way to mod the xbox without flashing the onboard bios .

there is no way you can flash the tsop without opening the xbox ,

there is one way to do it but its really difficult and requires a precise hand
