I'm working on a friends Xbox, 1.6b, but when I look at all the info using configmagic 1.6. I get the following...

Best bet is to use chimp and telnet to clone the HDD. Wink

Will cloning it also get the new drive locked?

That is the major hurdle I'm facing. Since I get all zeros, Configmagic won't ket me edit the Eeprom until I unlock the orig. hard drive, which I can't with Config OR Evox...

I looked at several online walkthroughs for using Chimp and they all use the "LOCK USING MOTHERBOARD" option. I don't think that would work for me since trying to do so with Evox and Configmagic causes the Xbox to lockup instantly.

So if I can manually lock the new HD with Chimp, which of the codes from the printout in my first post would I use?

Thanks again for all the help!

Hi again, I've been to the "ussual places" but could not find Chimp 2.6. I got ahold of 2.4 from the AID 4.0 image, but I cannot Telnet into it.

I checked to make sure I could telnet into the dash and that is fine. My IP is 192.168.1.12 so it is higher then 192.168.0.4

Dang Micro$oft for making there own video chip!

I think it means higher but still in the same range, try changing your PC IP to 192.168.0.5

Tankz user1, but no dice Sad

Would Chimp freeze on startup if it can't extract the HDD Key?

I was thinking that might be the problem since I can't see the screen nor log in to Chimp.

Is there anyway to edit the EEprom and put a different set of info on it that I can have the bigger HD already locked to?

Since I'll never be on the same LAN as this Xbox, can I just imprint the EEPROM info from another Xbox? Do versions matter?

I think the ip of your pc should be 192.168.0.5 and dns is 192.168.0.4
Sometimes it needs the dns to work. When networking always make sure the first three are the same 192.168.0.

Hey Delta, this is exactly how I had it all setup.

Xbox=192.168.0.4
PC= 192.168.0.5
DNS=192.168.0.4

I can telnet into it when on Evox Dash just fine, but nothing with chimp.

That is why I was wondering about any other solutions. As much as I would love to work this prog. I need to get this done. Sad

Sorry for being such a pain, but I appreciate everyone's help...
