I have been using AID long enough to understand where the files are located and i have edited some xml's before.
Having said that I would like to add a line in AID to would help update xbmc to newer versions and still retain the xbox's USERDATA folder. I am unsure of where or how to start the lines. I want to add an Update E:\apps\xbmc option. This would need an option to backup the userdata folder contained withint. Then of course a second option to restore that data once xbmc has been overwritten. I think this would be very handy to me and to anyone else that has multiple xbox's and friends with xbox's and friends with friends that have xbox's.......
I also noticed that my newer version of xbmc has a problem with locking up if I use my randomplay.py. This of course seems to be dependent upon the skin I use. Can anyone help with this?
I dont think UnleashX is up to what you`re expecting, for you have to update XBMC there would need to be a compiled version on some server somwhere that AID could connect to do download the updated version, unless im reading your question all wrong, in that case just use the AID iso updater to include the newest version from the addon packs. _________________

I think what he wants to do is update the main program, without losing any locations or userdata in settings. To be honest though, I've never had a problem with the T3CH updates so maybe I'm missing something as well.

User1 is correct in this post and in order to update XBMC and keep your settings and user-data you can use the steps in the update guide found under my sig.
As for the skin/random-play problem, that's in the skin and you would need to report that to the guy that made the skin or to XBMC.org

I know how to and have updated xbmc countless times in the years I have been doing xbox's. I am not asking for that information, however I do appreciate any input and do thank all who have posted.
I want to add a command line in AID. AID seems able to backup ms and other drives fine so why not just userdata, then have it install the newer version of xbmc from the disc I have made, then it needs to restore the updated userdata.
I want to make it a one button push process. It will make it easier than taking a laptop with me. Not all of the xbox's I work on have internet connection available. If I can make a cd, and then have that cd be as simple as a single press it would be nice.
I understand that only those that have edited xml's can help me. I will post any progress I make.

Why not just move the userdata from the current XBMC to root F and then when you install the new XBMC move the old userdata to the new build, sounds like your using a tank to swat fly's here.

If any one can make this happen it would be the maker of AID, im sure if it was all that simple that DJB would have the system in place by now.
