I've got a v1.6 xbox with Xecuter 3 chip installed. I can boot it up to X3 bios 3294, and even FTP into my xbox. I'm just having one hell of a time installing a dashboard and all the other goodies using FlashFXP.
Is there any way I can run AID 4.5 using FTP? I can't seem to get the .iso image to load on the xbox. Can't get my dvd burner to work currently, so I"m trying to work around it.
If anyone could point me in the right direction that'd be much appreciated. NO way I would've gotten this far without xbox-hq. Thanks.
Just to be sure,
You have extracted the AID iso, clicked on `Files` then on `Dash` then (with WinRAR) extracted `UnleashX` (or whatever dash) and FTP `English.xml` , `evoxdash.xbe` , `French.xml` , `German.xml` and `Spanish.xml` to the Root of the C/ partition and you are still getting an error 13 ? _________________

Yeah it was a shitter. I started looking at the drive itself and a few of the pins for the IDE connection were a bit "melted" looking...hard to describe. But no worries.
Bought dvd writer for my comp, installed that, burnt AID to it, put another 60g hard drive I had laying around in my Xbox, flashed again/format the drive set up partitions and bam.
Basically started all over again!!!
I'm installing as we speak....thanks much for helping me out though user1. This place really has all the info needed...just need to dig a bit.

okay...next problem. I have the HD hooked up, but, AID doesn't seem to be working. I try to do the "one-click" install and the dashboard never takes.
I'm wondering if I'm not setting up my HD correctly? I use the "format/prepare HD" function on AID then do the one click install and I've tried Evolution/Avalaunch dashboards and neither of them will install from the boot disk. XBMC will load though, but not the other dashboards. Which is weird. Can I run roms/emulators through the XMBC dash?
What am I missing? Going nuts here...do I have to use Chimp to set up the HD first? Could it just be that the HD just isn't compatible? It is a lockable drive according to my Xecuter bios 3294 when I go into disk tools.
Any info or direction would be much appreciated...thanks guys.

The drive can stay unlocked as long as the box is chipped, as for xbmc it can run anything and way more then any other dash out there.

I'm going to install XBMC then and go from there...I wanted to try installing other dashboards to see what they're all about, but, really all I want to do is be able to run some roms/emulators and save my old xbox games to the drive so I have them all in one place and load them from the drive...lot of them are starting to wear and skip...so I should be able to do all of this with XBMC as well as probably have some other valuable tools too?

@ mseriously,
I don't waste my time with any other dashboard rather then XBMC.. It's by far the best.. Sure the other dashboards may have a few little tiny features that XBMC doesn't but people always can add-on their own stuff using python scripts etc..
If you get XBMC installed just install all the other dashboards as a application for now till you get used to how it works.
Also, with your x3, you should check to see where the bios is looking first.. example c:\default.xbe then e:\default.xbe et cetc..
IF AIDELUXE does NOT boot then i always try another brand of media..
eg. verbatim, tdk, whatever.
Thanks for the replies everybody...am enjoying the modded box as we speak. XBMC is the way to go. Turned out I had to go through a few disks first...and burn at SLOW speed to get the disk right. 2x speed and memorex dvd blank discs was the one that worked I think.
I'd say the biggest problem for my newb experience was getting the right disc media to burn. Xecuter chip and xapter solderless worked like a charm after I modified how I screwed it down. AID disc installed and set up my new HD with no problems after I got the disc burned correctly. Unleash X is what I have loaded and just run the XBMC as an app. Eventually I'll just have XBMC and nothing else...just need to get familiar with it's VAST capabilities.
Overall, a cool and gratifying experience. Wouldn't have been able to do it without this site...no attitudes and easy to use if you're willing to search and be hungry to learn yourself.
