A long time ago i purchased my xbox, but it was 2nd hand and pre-modded with what i believe is SmartXX chip. I had UnleashX as my dashboard. I recently downloaded AID v4.5 (Auto Installer Deluxe) because I wanted to update the xbox and I read this was the best way to do it. Anyway it seemed to update, and I had new apps and it was running fine. Then one day i switched it on, only for it to come up to an error 13 code. Now i did some research and apparently this is a problem with the dashboard. I am now absolutely lost as what to do. It says SmartXX can ftp from bios, but when i try to, it refuses it. I do not know exactly what I am doing. Is it possible for me to reinstall a dashboard from the SmartXX bios, or am i going to have to dismantle my xbox? Is there anyway I can upload a new bios to it? I have SmartXX remote flasher, but no idea what bios to use or anything. I have been trying to fix this for weeks, I would love for someone to give me a hand or just help me to understand some things thanks!

If you can still boot up AID you should be able to reinstall the dashboard from there. I would try that first since that would be the easiest fix. _________________

I can only view SmartXX bios, I cannot boot up in to a dash or AID.

So your not able to boot discs at all? If your chip is flashed you should be able to. Try booting up a normal game and see if it boots. If so, you might just need to reburn your AID disk.
If not then we either need to hotswap, or get your chip flashed (even though it sounds like it already should be). _________________

So I should technically be able to run a boot disk? This is more or less what I wanted to know. The AID one just won't boot up, no luck what so ever, i tried burning a Xebian copy of Linux, but when it loads it has some kind of error. Are there any other bootup disks I could try, I heard maybe SlayerS 2.7?

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to boot from the disc unless the drive is bad?
Did you try booting to the original bios? Shold be the first option on the smartxx menu.
If you can boot a game but not AID then you need to reburn AID on a different kind of disc, because the xbox is picky.
Error 13 doesnt make any sense. If you have a dash problem with your chip installed it usually just hangs on a blank screen. You should only get error messages with a stock bios.
