I have a box here that was working fine for a while, and then all of the sudden one day about ten seconds after turning it on it died and started flashing orange. Nothing looks wrong in there, and when I try to power it up it starts green for about a second then the lights go out for a second and then start to flash orange. They flash a few times then they go out for a second again then come on flashing orange and just stay that way. I thought maybe it overheated, but I only had it on for a few seconds, and it worked fine before that. I have no idea what is wrong with it, guess it just died?

Actually I just now figured it out because I burnt my finger real nice on something in there while I was fumbing around and by careful elimination Razz I deduced that the scalding hot chip on the board is the big nvidia one, obviously part of the video. It almost looks like it was on fire. So I guess this one is toast.

sounds like it ... lol at the burnt finger.
That orange flashing light indicates a video error.

Yeh sounds like something has fried. You could try the process of elimination and try different AV cables, disconnect the hdd or whatever just to see if your error changes..

Yeah that was the first thing I did, I usually disconnect everything and give it that one final chance. I had put it off to the side and then decided that I had to look at it again which is when I figured out that it is really dead. Oh well, at least I have some more spare parts now Smile

No, it is certainly dead. I scored another mobo to use since I was actually trying to use up some of my spare parts Smile
