Post subject: Error 21 when I click ms dash from unleash x dashboard

Hello, I recently have hotswapped and restored my original xbox about 5 different times. I am having an error 21 problem. When I start my xbox with the tray open, it goes to the original 5960 xbox dashboard. When I start it with the tray closed it goes to unleash x dashboard. The problem is, when I click on ms dash from the unleash x tray, I get error 21.

Also, if I unplug the machine for a couple minutes, and turn it back on, I get only error 21, no dashboards of any kind. I then have to restore the hard drive and do the hotswap all over again.

I have tried updating from a live game disk, and it always tells me that update failed, and check disk to see if it is damaged or dirty.

I have also tried copying the dash files from E/backup/ to c, with still no luck.

I have heard of downloading the AID disk, but this would take me sooooo long to download.

Does anyone have any ideas of what is going wrong here? Is there a place to download some uncorrupted xboxdash.xbe file, so that I can ftp it to my machine?

Please Help Me, I simply can't keep hotswapping.

Hmmm, you could try clearing the cache : Use UnleashX`s file manager and navigate to E/cache and delete the contents of that folder, also delete the contents of folders `X` `Y` & `Z`, see if that helps.

or, if you have a memory card or usb flash drive and xbox usb cable ..... you could download SID, FTP the files to your xbox, copy the files to the memory card Then restore the xbox to stock and use the SID files on the memory card to Softmod it (hopefully for the last time)

Well, I tried clearing the cache and the x,y,& z drives, but it didn't work. I don't have any of the other stuff, so I guess I am stuck.

SID is not a big file and you can get it here: http://www.aidtracker.com/

The error 21 when launching from the unleash dash sounds like the unleash dash is launching the wrong xbe file, might want to check the path of it in the unleash ini file.

The path it is going to when I click on ms dash is C:/xboxdash.xbe

When I ftp to the machine though, it won't let me overwrite this file, delete it, or even rename it.

I don't have an xbox memory card, so I don't think that the SID file will be useful.

Drop SID in the APP folder and use the XBE to launch it from the HDD. Wink

I read a tutorial about installing SID, do I have to have 1 of these 3 games to use it?
Splinter cell, mech assault, and 007 agent under fire??

You already have it softmoded, you are just using it to reinstall the softmod in a working order.
