i have an xbox i got from my cuz it has a 40 gb hardrive and i want to put a new harddrive in it what do i need to do in order to get the new harddrive rety i know its running unleashx i FTP everything to my laptop alrety do i needa download unleashx agian or can i just move everything over to the new hard drive with FTP if you can help thanks i need to know step by step if u all wouldn't mind P.S I SEEN SOMETHINGSABOUT CLONEING THE HD CAN I JUST DO THAT IF SO HOW CAN I DO IT STEP BY STEP IF U DONT MINE THANKS IN ADVANCE PPLZ
Theres a few different methods to upgrade your hard drive, Do you know what version the xbox is - is it chipped or soft modded ? _________________

no i dont no anything it was givein to me by someone who also knows nothing about it they bought it at a yard sale how can i tell these thing the only thing i know how to do is ftp to it learned that lastnight thats all i realy know okay i just figured out the version in the settings it 1.4
Ok, the last pic is the one we want to be looking at - and by the looks of it it doesnt look like you have a chip installed.
Its a version 1.2 - 1.5 motherboard, Could of had the TSOP flashed or could be soft modded, probably your safest option is to install `Chimp` on the xbox and use that to clone your hard drive.
If your xbox is full of Emus, apps and whatever else it could take a while to clone. _________________

okay so how do i get everything on the other hard drive do i have to have both of them ion my xbox ?
install chimp on your xbox
run chimp
take the IDE cable out of the DVD rom
install new HDD inplace of dvd rom
follow the options in chimp
when done, replace old HDD with new
hook up the dvd rom
Bingo, pat yourself on the back, couple of quick pints in the pub then back home in time for dinner. _________________

kay one last qeustion can i install chimp trough ftp or use a dvd cuz i have no cds and one dvd xD
You can FTP chimp to your Apps folder ........ If you only have one DVD left i recommend you download AID (links a couple of posts up) It has a load of Apps, Dashboards & Emulators - Its a handy tool if your messing with xboxes. _________________

okay if i download aid ill still need chimp right and well unleshx still be on my new harddrive or do i have to re do it to and can i download aid after i put the new hardrive in and use it
Chimp is on the AID disc - UnleashX will be transferred to your new HDD, everything on the old will be copied to the new. _________________

okay user1 i want to thank you for all your help i think ill just use the chimp one though it seems esier that way xD but what all do i have to do with aid just pop in hte disk ? if so i might take that route

i have chip on my hd now how do i start it up i pressed the first thing in the file but it wont let me scroll down to clone from master to slave i cant move down to that
