Posted: Thu Aug 27, 2009 4:24 pm Post subject: Noob Questions about HDD and AID
I have a v1.6 box with a Smart XXv2 chip installed. (Old friend did all the work) Had everything working perfectly and now someone got in my box and erased the whole HDD (160GB Maxtor). I can boot to SmartXX Menu but nothing else as the HDD is wiped. Will AID work for me? If i burn it to CD-RW will it load? If it does, can i just install MSDASH again to C: and just follow along with the guide? I HAVE read the guide all the way through i just need some clarification if this is all i need to do?
I would love to get my box up and running again.
Thank you!

You got it right bro, just burn AID to a disk (dvd -r works best) and use the chipped one click install and it will take care of all the work.

While I don't have access to a DVD burner I'm gonna try CD-RW first, if that fails then I'll get the ISO to a buddy's house and burn a DVD there...
I forgot to mention that i cant even play Original Games... i keep getting Error 21. Without a disc i get Error 13. Dunno if that will affect AID from loading as well.... i seriously don't know what the hell happened here i had this box for 5 years now!!
I'll give it a try and let you know

Give CDRW a go but im sure you will need to burn a DVD-R.
If you have a modchip all your errors will soon be gone.
Do as wes suggested and use the One Click Modchip install options..

So CD-RW didn't work (i know, big suprise!) So my friend burnt me an ISO disc on DVD-R.
Put it in and get error 13. Tried my Debian disc from SmartXX and got error 13. I had ran that Debian disc somehow last week and can not run it tonight.
Any suggestions? We even re-read manual and used the add-on updater for the 1gb dummy file and tried that ISO and nothing, still error 13.
Running out of ideas here?
Any help ASAP appreciated guys, so far so good!

Pop the dvd drive top and clean the laser lens with a Q-tip and some alcohol.
BE CAREFUL.

If your modchip is installed and flashed the AID disc should boot everytime no matter which error you get.. Sounds to me like the DVDROM is dead or not reading correctly.
Another thing you could try is to BURN AID to a different brand of DVD/CDRW media.
There was something wrong with my BIOS banks, i re-flashed and the disc worked perfectly... i used the one-click install and its all set up fine...
Here comes the bad part... any time i try to run an XBE wether it be an APP or an Emulator... it just reboots the dashboard... this was a problem i had back when i my box was working and i never could figure it out... is this something with my modchip or something else?
Any help or direction is greatly appreciated!!!

If it boots the AID dvd and you have a dashboard there should be no reason why you can't install emus or whatever you want from the AID/XBMC cd..
Worse case scenario you could FTP the files over to your xbox via ftp if there are issue you can't fix..
Sounds to me like your modchip is running fine otherwise it would NOT boot HQ Auto Installer Deluxe.
I can install everything fine, FTP or from disc. It's when i run the XBE for said programs that the dashboard reboots...
I will try another format/install of the harddrive again and see if it fixes it, I am at a loss as to why everything just reboots the dashboard... like I said I had this problem before my drive got wiped and hadn't been able to fix it.
I was on other forums looking for answers and no one seemed to know what was up. I'll keep trying though.
I would donate now but I'm unemployed now for 3 months... as soon as i get a job though you can bet I'm gonna donate!!!

So i tried another install and there is something up with the G partition
Tried Formatting and preparing it and it gives me an error and just makes the all the other drives... dunno if this is why some apps and emu's wont load?
Everything is installed to E or F and i can get some Emu's to run but others reload the dashboard... don't know what causes this... some Apps run but same thing, others just reboot Dashboard...
Should i just get a new HDD?? anyone else with these issues or experiences?

Have you tried a simple clearing of the E cache?

Tried that... still can't run some of the Apps and Emu's. It's weird ho some will load and others won't...
Could it be the bios I'm using or something like that? I'm using Evox M8+ 16
If i can get my hands on another HDD i might try that. I know the G partition ha some kind of error with it where it cant even be made and has nothing in it... maybe that is it?
This boggled the minds at the other site i was on.

Im not sure why you would use the M8 BIOS when it can run much better like the Xecuter2 5035 Bios and what really blows my mind is why you are using a G drive on the hard drive when its only 160GB?

I'll give the X2 bios a try... I'm not an expert at this mod thing so I don't know the difference between all that stuff.
I know enough to get me by.
I appreciate all the help though! I'll let you know what happens.
