Ive never personally used a USB drive on the xbox 1.. I know DJB has so i will shoot him a link to this topic. Hopefully he has time for a quick reply for you..

Maybe you need to format on your PC using somesort of application.. Soz i was on 360 when usb was popular..

Not all USB devices are compatible unfortunately. I think I may have provied a link of compatible devices in my online manual if you want to check that out.

Also, I recommend using the original Xbox Dashboard to format, not XBMC.

Lastly, what do you plan on using this device for, a memory card or storage?

Possibly, however I've never tried.

You wont be able to. You'll only be able to use it for storage.

Since on the topic of USB hookup. . .

I've had a project in mind to do, just haven't gotten around to it. I am going to modify my Xbox and put in (2) USB ports hardwired onto the xbox. My plans were to use it as storage, same as Osksoldier07. More specifically, I was going to use it to store movies and also music.

Can any of you confirm this would work? I don't see why it wouldn't XBMC, does have an option to add a 'path' location, which would be the USB port drive.

Yes it would work, the USB device needs to be formatted in FAT, but you`ll be limited to 4Gb of storage, it wont read any more.

*in Simpsons character Snake voice* Oh no, not cool!!

4GB max limit! That's extremely small and makes me just think why even do it. Hmmmm, how about this clarification question, does the 4GB max mean per port per USB? Which means if I have (2) ports, I can put (2) USB drives in place for 4+4GB=8GBs.

I take it the 4GB max is due to the FAT formatting?
