You could install XBMC as an application or as your main dashboard, that has the options to controll your fan speed ............ or theres an app called `Fanthing` that you could use. _________________

Ok I Did That.. But When I Scroll Down To Click On The fan Speed It Wont Let Me Adjust It.....
Also By Adjusting The Fan In XBMC Will It Run All The Time Even Out Of XBMC On The Speed You Set It At....
Should I Run My Fan Off Of The 12v Hard Drive ?
to Keep It Cooler ?

If you want to do the 80mm fan upgrade, it's real easy to do, but here's my question. What are you doing to require any upgrade/mod? I have factory settings with factory fan and never get a glitch, all you need is good air flow around the unit. I've done the fan mod, but that's because I wanted the blue led fan glowing out the back of my crystal case.
when you get to `Fan Speed Override` click on that, then the fan speed option should be available ........ If your concerned about temps id have a go at replacing the crappy thermal paste with some Artic Silver or something better than the rubbish stuff MS put on there. _________________

Damn bro 130* thats too hot my box hasn't gone above 110* in prolly 5 or 6 years In fact normally it sits about 103* 90% of the time however I keep house cooler than most people I like the cold. Here's my opinion do what I did first go buy yourself a decent 80mm 12v Fan with a low decibel rating then head over to llama.com and read this tutorial for a start http://www.llamma.com/xbox/Xbox%2080mm%20Fan%20Mod.htm It's very easy to do just a little bit of dremel work or whatever tool you choose and voila now you have a more efficient fan that runs full speed all the time and it's less noisy then the stock fan running at 40% and if you do it right the new fan should fit snuggly in place with no wiggle room at all. And to complete your fan mod cut fan sized square out of the inner metal shielding on the back of your xbox to maximize air flow. This will dramatically reduce the temp inside your xbox. Then if your still not satisfied go ahead and replace the thermal compound on your CPU and GPU with arctic silver but be careful to use just enough to cover the chip since it has silver in the compound it can and will create a brige between pins I learned the hard way, just do some research and feel free to ask questions we are here to help. Good luck _________________ v1.0, 300GB, X3 (Update In Progress)

I just pulled all the tin out from my xbox since it just make an ez bake oven out of your xbox, then since i run nothing but XBMC 24/7 i use the temp control set at 110 F.
If you try any or all of the tricks listed here and it still runs at 130 i would take the fan out all together and use it for making smores.

That''s friggin priceless...ez bake oven
If you do replace the the compound, let the system run for a bit, or until it gets to your temp, and the heatsinks should slide right off with no problems. When it's cool, sometimes the heatsinks are a bugger to pull off.

LMMFAO!! EZ Bake Oven that actually made me laugh, but just to reiterate def let you box heat up before pulling off the heatsinks, lol but since you got yourself an oven there it shouldnt be to hard. _________________ v1.0, 300GB, X3 (Update In Progress)

Whats Weird Is XBMC Wont Let Me Adjust The Fan Speed...
Does It Depend On The XBMC Skin ?

no but if it wont let you the maybe theirs a problem with your version of XBMC, try reinstalling a newer release, and while your at it check your fan see how its connected, has it been messed with at all? If you cut the black wire and ground it out the fan runs full speed so no adjusting it just take a quick peak the answer may be simpler then you think. _________________ v1.0, 300GB, X3 (Update In Progress)
