OK, so I'm soft modding my xbox, and after looking at the tutorial, i realized i needed an action replay. i checked on eBay and found they are a whopping 30 bucks apiece. are they any cheaper alternatives to the action replay?

I only ever went through this once, but I just cut controller up and macguyvered it to a usb plug. You can get the controller working in windows no problem. I found the action replay software end of it out there free somewhere.

Not really. I'm just looking for something I can get on eBay that does the same thing as action replay/gameshark cable

u dont need any soldering guns, i just twist n tape them together, cut the female end of the usb cable off, and the end of a regular usb cable, then connect all the 4 wires together matching the same colors, n it should work

I dunno if there is tut out there, but its extremely simple
all of the wires are the same color, the xbox cord has one extra wire, a yellow one, just leave it by itself
just twist and tape since you don't have solder, just electrical tape and your good to go
then get the drivers...I don't use windows much so I can't help you there but I know the action replay software is out there easy to find, its kinda strange to use at first but once you get the thing connected you'll figure it out
unless your running linux then its a matter of getting the xpad driver, i know its in the Mandriva and Ubuntu repos and then using wine to run AR. Plus then in the future you can play games with the controller.
But I dont know what OS you're running so make the cable and you'll figure it out

So what you're saying is...
Take an extra controller, and snip the cord. Then strip the wires
do the sane with any extra USB.... (would an apple iPod cord work?)
and them twist them together???

yup, so the final procdut will look like the xbox controller has a usb plug on the end of it, then just download the usb drivers for the xbox drivers, its not hard to find on google
