i just bought a xbox with the 5101 kernel and softmodded it with the mech save do i need to change it and if i put in halo 2 will that mess up my softmod by switching the kernel to 5960

The xbox shouldn't have been able to have been softmodded if it had an older kermal. It shouldn't do anything but to be safe I would uninstall the softmod, update kernal, then reapply softmod. _________________

thanks i think the kernel is 5101 and the dash is 5960 but what im concerned about is that if i play a game it will mess it up before i clone my old one with chimp which was messed up by putting a live game in it

It shouldn't hurt anything. I'd say your good. Just make sure you have a backup of your eeprom on your PC. _________________
