Post subject: Questions About Upgrading XBMC Dashboard with AID 4.41
Reply with quote

I originally soft-modded my Xbox using SID 4.0, and then used AID 4.40 to reinstall the softmod using the "single click" single-boot Virtual C + EEPROM option with XBMC as the Dash. Now I want to upgrade the XBMC Dash to the latest via the AID 4.41 Update Pack, but would like some things cleared up before proceeding.

1. It is my understanding that since I installed my softmod using the Virtual C + EERPOM option that I should install the upgrade using the regular modchip option for installing a dashboard rather that the softmod options. Is this true?

2. Should I uninstall the old XBMC dashboard first before intalling the updated one, or can I just install the updated one over the previous dash install.

Thanks for your help.

Yes I read that tute, but got stuck as I have XBMC as my main boot dash. When I went to the link on the tute that addresses this it talked about changing a shortcut on C:, but since I have the Virtual C install, my C: drive is not assessable via FTP. Maybe I'm missing something, but I have not been able to find much information on what the Virtual C thing actually does, and the ins and outs of having one as far as upgrades, etc go. Do you know of a good source.

The V C drive just hides the C files so you cant screw them up, if you download the new T3CH build and lable the XBMC folder XBMC 2 and ftp it to the same place as the XBMC folder then switch to say evox and copy the xbmc userdata folder to the xbmc2 folder your half way there.

Now just delete the xbmc folder and rename xbmc2 to xbmc then the old shortcut will now boot the new build.

its that simple.

Thanks for all the help. This sounds good, but the only fly in the ointment is that the only dash I have installed on my box is XBMC, so switching to evox is not doable. Would it work if I install Evox as an app, and launch it from the XBMC dash?
