Hi
I have a modded XBOX with the following system info:
Kernelversion: 1.0.5035.1
XBMC (090120): pre-2.1 (jan 2007)
HDD: unlocked
DVD: Samsung SDG-605F
DVD Firmware: x204
Nätverksinfo: Static
Grafikchip: Xcalibur
XBOX-version: 1.6
XBOX Serienr: 220279652905
Modchip: XECUTER2
BIOS: XECUTER2 5035 v1.6
I have one purpose with this 250GB xbox - I want to put some LINUX -version on the xbox to be able to run Squeezecenter on it - nothing else. Preferably I would like to have the software autostart on boot-up as I don't plan to use a monitor. Ethernet-connection to my Squeezebox in bridge mode (to administer the mp3 catalogue from my pc).
I have searched for guides on how to accomplish all of this but have drowned in all the info. So now I turn to you guys.
Is it right that I have to:
1. Exchange the BIOS listed above for a Cromwell one. Unsure of which banks should be flashed, exactly which bios version to use etc. Please advice.
2. Install Linux (XDSL/XEBIAN)
3. Install SAMBA
4. Install Squeezecenter - please advicee which version
5. Have Squeezecenter auto-start when xbox powered on.
Is any of this this correct and doable? If so, is there a simple guide for accomplishing the task? A Boot-cd with all of the needed software?
Hello,
What is squeezecentre ?
If its anything to do with movies i think you may be out of luck, your version of xbox (v1.6) has issues with the Cromwell bios (the xcaliber video chip in your xbox doesnt work well with Cromwell due to the chip being Microsofts and no source code is available for it)
If you just want to stream MP3 files, or video files you will have much better possibilities loading XBMC as a dashboard on your xbox, Check out the XBMC website and see if its what you are after. _________________

user1;
No Squeezecenter is a mp3 server server software that administrates mp3 files for a network device called Squeezebox (which in turn is connected to a Hi-Fi system). More info here: http://www.slimdevices.com/
I run SBMC on another XBOX (movies/games etc) so this one I would like to use only for serving the Squeezebox (as stated above) and nothing else.
